"Strange, Paranormal, Unexplained"

Welcome!

In this blog post, I'm going to touch on a few things that are strange, even paranormal.

There are so many things in this world that are unexplained, things that we just don't quite understand.

Here are some unusual things that have come to my attention in just the past few weeks-

~Yesterday, I happened to think about an old mirror that is in our memorabilia room, and I began wondering if it was haunted like the one I wrote about in my last blog post which was published on May 19, 2024 that was entitled, "A Haunted Mirror!"

Today, I took a picture of the old mirror in the memorabilia room...

but Greg and I can't say for sure that it is haunted. There is no paranormal grid like in the mirror in last month's blog post, but the white streaks, etc.in the mirror in the above photograph could be ectoplasm, or they could even be caused by the camera flash. I have found that in order to capture anything paranormal in a mirror, the flash needs to be on.

If this mirror were haunted by some negative entity, it would be unfortunate since the mirror is on a cabinet that is attached to the wall. That would make it difficult to remove the mirror. Of course, as an alternative, we could just say a prayer and do a ritual to hopefully get rid of any bad spirits. So far, though, we haven't noticed anything negative because of this mirror, thank goodness!

A really strange thing happened just a few days ago when I was looking in the kitchen for something to show Greg. When I opened one of the doors of our island, which I don't open very often, I couldn't believe it when I found a box of prescription medicine on top of some old cookbooks that I had stored in there.

The medicine was not ours since we don't take medicine anymore. It had belonged to the previous owner of our house, and in the five years that we have lived here, we have never even seen this box of medicine before. How did it suddenly end up on top of my old cookbook collection?

(The owner's name, etc. is on the other side of this box, but for privacy's sake, I, of course, can't show it.)

This is very strange!  This is something to ask our favorite psychic about whenever I talk with her again! Her comments about it should be very interesting!

Also, here is an interesting tidbit- Not long ago, on "Coast to Coast AM," there was a story about Hulk Hogan, the wrestling great, who said that his rival had sent him a voicemail two days after he had died!

For lots more about the paranormal, be sure and check out my Kindle book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind." Please see the widget above for more information.

Paranormal Photograph!

 Welcome!

Of course, you may know by now that I have a gift of taking paranormal photographs, especially when I least expect it.

However, a few weeks ago, when Greg and I were visiting Jonesborough, Tennessee, I saw this beautiful old church, and I decided to take a picture of it since I had a feeling that I'd get a paranormal photograph.

I guess I was right, as you can see in this closeup-

Notice the ectoplasm and colorful orbs in this photo.

I knew that there was a good change that this church was haunted since it is located in Jonesborough which is the oldest town in Tennessee, and a few years ago, we went on a ghost tour there. We found out then that this town is really haunted!

In my book about the paranormal, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," I have a photograph of another old church, and you can see a large flow of energy that goes from the ground toward heaven. Psychic Elaine Watson said that the spirit energy was from someone who had attended church there.

If you like paranormal photographs, you'd love my book since there are over 100 spirit photographs that my husband, Greg, and my brother, Nick, and I have taken in the past, here in this country, as well as abroad. For more information about this Kindle book which is on Amazon, just click the widget above.

And, if you are fascinated by the paranormal, you're sure to love a fascinating radio show that I listened to late one night when I was up working on a pet portrait commission. The show is "Coast to Coast AM." (www.coasttocoastam.com) The night I listened to it, it was about a ventriloquist's dummy that was haunted. (Really creepy!) They have a different focus on the strange, the unusual, every night.

On the show, they said that the paranormal is on the rise! Stay tuned!

Ghostly Family Photographs

 Welcome!

I stay pretty busy with my writing, art, and photography, but the past few days, I've taken some time out from the arts to straighten and organize some things that I really needed to get done. While looking through some old papers, I ran across an old photograph that my father had taken of me when I was an infant.

(Becky Arnott Photography)
Photograph of Me with a Cake, Etc.

The photo was of a special occasion, my first birthday, complete with a birthday cake with one candle.

(There were no digital cameras in those days. There were just film cameras, so you really didn't know what your pictures were like until the film was developed.)

Notice all of the white ectoplasm in this photo! I'm sure Daddy didn't realize that it was ectoplasm. He, no doubt, thought that the film had just messed up. Apparently, several spirits were really excited about my first birthday celebration!

I have noticed that several of Daddy's photos had ectoplasm in them. In fact, he was actually a talented spirit photographer! My brother, Nick, and I got that same talent from Daddy.

My husband, Greg, also has that talent which he apparently got from his father. We know at least one photograph which his father took of a family gathering that contained ectoplasm.

One day, a sister-in-law once took a picture of Greg and me standing in front of a haunted mansion, and ectoplasm showed up in the photo. I believe it surprised her since she didn't know that she could take paranormal photos.

You might check out your family, etc. photographs. Some of them might be ghostly! You just never know!

For a book full of paranormal photographs (over 100!), that Nick, Greg, and I took, check out my Kindle book on Amazon, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind." For more information and to order, please see the widget above.

"Haunted Places"

 Welcome!

There is always something paranormal to write about since there are so many haunted places!

In this blog post, I have three instances of paranormal occurrences.

The first one is an update about an old house and the land it sits on, in Abingdon, Virginia. I previously wrote about it in my last two "Spirit Photographs" blog posts. (Please see my Saturday, May 20 and Saturday, June 17, 2023 posts for more information about this house and land.)

Recently, I talked with a psychic about this property, and she said that the ectoplasm was there because of "Civil War stuff." (Apparently, Civil War battles were really widespread throughout this whole region. She'd told me previously that battles were fought on the land where we live.)

She said that the bright ball of ectoplasm on the ground to the right...

From a Previous Photograph

was the spirit of a Confederate soldier who was 22 years old when he was killed fighting. He was in pain before he died. He had a girlfriend, and he felt sad that he wouldn't get to have a future life.

There were dead people around him. (See the other ectoplasm to the left of the ball of ectoplasm.) So his trauma was left there, along with the trauma of the others.

In my two previous posts, there was also ectoplasm near and on the house. I assume that it was also related to the Civil War, although she didn't say so.

I have a second photograph of a hill that is behind a regional garden center. I took the picture because I thought it would make a nice photograph, but little did I know that faint ectoplasm would show up in the lower center of the photo, near the rocks.

I assume that this hill is haunted because one or more animals (or even a person) probably died there, no telling how long ago.

Lastly, I heard about an abandoned, creepy town here in the United States that is so haunted that it's illegal to even visit there! The town is Dudley Town, Connecticut. It is believed that the strange deaths and other weird happenings there were the result of the Dudley family curse.

Not only is this a place you wouldn't want to visit, you certainly wouldn't want to live there, even if you could!

Another "Haunted" Photograph and Several Paranormal Updates

 Welcome!

Last month, on May 20, 2023, I published a blog post entitled "A Haunted House" which was about an old house in Abingdon, Virginia that Greg and I concluded was haunted, and I believe my photographs prove it. I still haven't discussed the photos with a psychic, but I'm sure she'd agree that they are paranormal.

On this post, I have another photograph of that same house that further reinforces my belief that something strange is going on-

Notice the obvious ectoplasm below the sign, to the left of the sign, and on the driveway.

Hopefully, I'll be consulting a psychic soon about this house and land which are both apparently very haunted! I'll let you know when I do.

Here are some other updates on some other posts that I have written-

On April 15, 2023, I wrote a post, "Two Unusual Photographs. One Creepy, One Paranormal." I had meant to show a closeup of the young man's face, but for some reason, I didn't.

Here is the closeup of that photo. It's not very clear since it's a closeup of a closeup-

Notice the strangely-shaped configuration of energy on his face! This close-up makes the photo seem even creepier!

On November 20, 2021, I wrote a post, "Moving Orbs," about a friend that contacted me about a doorbell camera catching moving orbs in her husband's workshop. A few weeks ago, she contacted me again, and she said that there were still a lot of orbs showing up on camera, and that it caught a large orb that made the alarm go off. (I'm not really surprised!)

And, yesterday, Greg and I were visiting Big Stone Gap, Virginia, when we decided to stop by the June Tolliver House where my brother, Nick, took the famous June Tolliver House ghost photograph one April day many years ago when he was just a schoolboy.

We were looking around the Tolliver House, and in the parlor there was an old newspaper clipping from a regional newspaper on display which tells about the ghost picture that Nick took. Very appropriately, it was published right before Halloween that year.

I show and tell all about the June Tolliver House ghost picture, as well as many other paranormal photographs, in my Kindle book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind." My book is for sale on Amazon. For more information, please see the widget above.

Or, for the paperback version, just stop by the June Tolliver House gift shop in Big Stone Gap, and they'll be glad to sell you a copy. And, while you are at the Tolliver House, you might want to check out that old newspaper clipping.

Paranormal Places

Welcome!

There are several paranormal places I'd like to share with you in this blog post.

The first one features a relatively new business that is in a really old building in historic Abingdon, Virginia. Here is a picture of it that I took a couple of weeks ago-

Notice all of the ectoplasm in this photograph! It's on the upper right window, as well as on the large windows below. A large streak comes from above to the awning. I took another picture of this building, and it was very similar to this one.

This is not the only building in Abingdon that is old, for most of the buildings there are very old. It's generally the old places that tend to attract spirits, that have ghosts. (I'll show another haunted business in Abingdon at the end of  this blog post.)

My brother, Nick, and his wife, Lisa, recently traveled to two areas that apparently are paranormal, that are very haunted.

The first place they visited was Charleston, South Carolina (This is another place that has some really old buildings.) where they went on a haunted ghost tour.

Then, they spent the night at Embassy Suites in an old building which is supposed to be haunted,

especially room M113!

Nick said they "didn't hear or see anything unusual. The building was once the Citadel Military Academy back in the 1800's, so there are areas that have a creepy vibe!"

Their other trip was to Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Petros, Tennessee which is no longer a working prison. Instead, they now offer special tours, etc. to the public.

Since the prison is apparently haunted, it offers an overnight paranormal tour. Brushy has even been featured on some paranormal television shows.

Nick said that he and Lisa did the self-guided daytime tour of the prison where Nick had his own "EVP session with (his) phone recorder in a secluded area of the facility" where they heard "a subtle odd sound on the playback!"

Yesterday, I saw part of a "Wonder Woman" TV show for the first time, and it just happened to feature a character who could take photographs that were paranormal.

Paranormal photography is a gift that my husband, Greg, my brother, Nick, and I all have. Many of our photographs contain ectoplasm, orbs, and sometimes, when we're very lucky, a ghost!*

The Martha Washington Inn (The Martha) in Abingdon, Virginia is haunted...

Happy Halloween!

not only by fake ghosts (See the photo above.), but by real ones as well! Go see for yourself, if you dare!

* Be sure and check out my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" which is full of spirit photographs that Nick, Greg, and I have taken. Please see and click on the widget above for more details on Amazon.

Paranormal Bays Mountain Park!

 Welcome!

A few weeks ago, Greg and I visited Bays Mountain Park in Kingsport, which is in East Tennessee. We hadn't been there in several years so we really enjoyed our visit. The park is really beautiful, so we took a lot of pictures, but a few of the photographs showed more than just the park's natural beauty!

Here is one of them-

Greg took the photo above. See if you notice anything unusual, like something paranormal.

This close-up photo should help-

This dead-looking tree (above) appears to be glowing! Psychic Elaine Watson, who helped me interpret the many paranormal photographs in my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," (See the widget above.) told me that anytime you see something glowing in a photograph, you can be certain that it is paranormal. (Why is this tree glowing? If Elaine were still with us, I would ask her. Now, we'll just have to use our imaginations to come up with an answer for that one until I can ask another psychic the next time I have a reading with her. Stay tuned!)

As we were leaving the park, I looked over and saw the Appalachian GhostWalks vehicle.

I couldn't imagine why they would be at Bays Mountain Park. Later, when we got back home, I called the park, and asked them if Bays Mountain was haunted since I saw the GhostWalks vehicle there. The woman who answered said that they were there conducting a Cherokee Bigfoot adventure tour in which the participants search for Bigfoot at Bays Mountain Park. I told the woman on the phone that I thought that sounded exciting, and that I would check it out.

Several years ago, Greg and I, along with my mother and brother, all took one of the Appalachian GhostWalks tours in Jonesborough, Tennessee which we all really enjoyed. We were looking for ghosts then, of course, instead of Bigfoot.

Paranormal Photographs

 Welcome!

A few days ago, a relative (whom I'll call April) sent me two photographs of her father and her beautiful, large dog. I decided to keep April's identity secret for privacy.

Also, I'm not showing her photographs. Instead, I'll just describe them.

Her first photo shows ectoplasm in the lower right corner. In her second photo, the ectoplasm takes up quite a bit of the lower part of the photograph.

April asked me what I thought about the photos, and although I take paranormal photographs, I'm not an expert on interpreting them. My guess is that the spirit in the photo was attracted to April's impressive dog. Some spirits seem to like being around animals. (Besides animals, spirits can be attracted to some people, celebrations, churches, family gatherings, etc.)

Also, April apparently has the gift of spirit photography.

My book on paranormal photography, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," has lots of paranormal photographs that I, my husband, Greg, and my brother, Nick, have taken. Also, some other people that I know contributed to my book, as well.

To my knowledge, I don't know of any other books that have been published that have had that many paranormal photographs in them.

Since my book was published, Greg and I have taken lots of spirit photographs. Here is one of those that Greg took of a pond at night in Middle Tennessee-

Since the above photo of the pond was taken at night, Greg turned on his car lights to take the picture. That's the reason that the foreground looks bleached out. You can see the obvious ectoplasm on the right side of the photo. The only change I made to the photo was that I added Greg's watermark, and I blotted out two small lights (which were probably street lights) on the left side of the photo. For some reason that pond seems to be very haunted, probably due to any animals and fish that might have died there. (We hope it is not due to something more sinister!) We've taken pictures there previously, before dark, and orbs, etc. showed up then, too.

In fact, we have so many paranormal photographs, that I'm planning to write and publish another book sometime in the future. (Who knows? I might even get permission to add April's spirit photos, as well!)

In the meantime, please check out my current paranormal book which is for sale on Amazon for only $2.99 on Kindle. To order "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," just click on the widget above.

Haunted Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Welcome!

I'd like to show you a couple of paranormal pictures I took in Gatlinburg, Tennessee while we were visiting there a few weeks ago. (On Sunday, November 7, 2021, I wrote about our Gatlinburg visit on my other blog, https://theartofpositiveliving.blogspot.com. The post was entitled, "A Fun Trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.")

Here are the two paranormal photographs that I took:

I took these pictures only moments apart. Although they are very similar, notice how different the orbs and ectoplasm are in the two photographs.

I've seen this phenomenon before, orbs, etc. around statues, dolls, mannequins, and other representations of human beings and even animals. Some spirits seem to want to attach to a body similar to what they used to have when they were living.

Knowing this, later in life, I got rid of some really nice dolls that I had when I was growing up. I certainly didn't want to take the chance of having dolls that were haunted especially since I tend to attract spirits! Maybe this was extreme, but we all have to do what we think is right for us.

If you like this blog, you might also enjoy the eBook, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" by Becky Arnott which is available on Amazon Kindle. Please see the widget above to order this eBook for $2.99.

Ectoplasm in a Mini-Park

Welcome!

Wow! Have Greg and I been busy the last few weeks! We got ready for Greg's birthday cookout which was last weekend. It was a lot of work since we're still trying to fix up our old house which is now mostly done. One really great thing about our house though is that it appears that it is no longer haunted, thank goodness!

This week has also been hectic, and we're attending a big family event tonight.

However, I still made time to work on my monthly "Spirit Photographs" blog post. I never panic about not having something to write about since weird stuff shows up in so many of the photographs that I take.

As I looked through my photos, and I decide to show two that I took in Abingdon, Virginia a couple of months ago. Greg and I were on our weekly shopping trip when I happened to notice that near one of the shops downtown there was a pretty little park that I would call a mini-park. I took several pictures of it since I thought it was so unique, an area between two old buildings, that brought in a bit of nature and nice artwork for people to enjoy.

The two photos below were the best ones that I took: (The only changes to the pictures were that I cropped them off some and I added my watermark.)

Notice the general ectoplasm in the foreground of the photo above.

The ectoplasm in the photo above looks more like a large orb around the far center post.

Why is there ectoplasm here in this mini-park? It could be that some person or animal died here or that spirits are just attracted to the serene beauty of the place.

Abingdon is a very old town so it's to be expected that there are many ghosts and spirits around. Because of this fact, Abingdon has at least two ghost tours, Abingdon Spirit Tours and Appalachian GhostWalks. Strangely enough, we haven't taken the time to go on either tour, (Too many other irons in the fire!) but we hope to in the near future. When we do, you will be the first to know!

To see more paranormal photographs that Greg and I and others have taken, check out my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" which is for sale on Amazon. (Please see the widget above.)

Intriguing Paranormal Stories

 Welcome!

I have one photograph for you on this blog post today, but the photo is not paranormal because I edited out the paranormal part. The reason for this was to protect the name of the business that was at the top of the building which was where the ectoplasm was! I took three pictures of Greg in front of the building, but this was the only one that had ectoplasm.

The photo above shows Greg having lunch in front of the building that had ectoplasm near the top which is, of course, out of the range of this photo.

Many times the owner of a business doesn't want it to be known that his establishment is haunted for fear that it would scare away any customers, which is understandable. Normally, if the business owner is there, I get permission to use any paranormal photos that I have taken before I publish them. In the case of the picture above, however, the owner was not available since this is a regional chain.

For the rest of this post, I'll tell you paranormal stories that others have told me. They don't have paranormal photos with them either, but they are intriguing, nevertheless.

I recently got an email from our sister-in-law Cris from North Carolina who said she'd been meaning to send me "this little article from our neighborhood website," and that she looks "at that bridge every time we go to town." She said to let her know what I thought about it.

Here's what Cris sent me:

"ghost sightings. My brother in law has been seeing a Confederate Soldier ghost on the bridge over the Reuse River...on Covered Bridge Road. This has happened several times about 12:00 in the afternoon. Anyone else seeing this?" (This incident certainly dispels the idea that ghosts only appear after dark.)

"Echo Forest and Beyond
Yes, we had a ton of paranormal stuff happening on our property. Talked about it to our neighbors and they were having the same thing happening."

"Buffalo Creek
It doesn't surprise me. If you look at the top of the hill...you will see a rock barrier that the soldiers used for cover during battle."

I told Cris that Greg and I would love to come and check out the ghostly goings-on there sometime, that we'd come armed with our cameras.

When we lived in Middle Tennessee, we happened to live next door to a psychic who told us that she once saw a Civil War officer on horseback, riding down our street! In fact, the whole neighborhood where we lived was an old Confederate campground with Civil War artifacts that people often found buried in the ground. No wonder it was haunted!

Earlier in my life, before I met Greg, I dated a guy who told me that when he was going to college in Eastern Virginia, he was driving by a field once when he came upon what looked like a Civil War battle being played out, but it wasn't a re-enactment! It looked real! He said that it had (understandably!) unnerved him, and that he'd never before told anyone else about the incident.

(This was before I was into the paranormal, although ghost stories had always fascinated me. I certainly had no idea then that I had a paranormal photography gift. Had I known more about the paranormal then, I feel that I could have helped him more about what he had witnessed. However, what he said really impressed me. It was something that I filed away in my mind and never forgot.)

The Civil War soldier on the bridge in North Carolina and the Civil War battle in Virginia are both like a movie playing over and over again. It is like they are on film; they are unlike spirits who can at times even interact with the living.

My brother, Nick, emailed me yesterday, telling me that he and his wife, Lisa, had just gotten back from a trip where they visited a huge mansion, parts of which had "very creepy vibes." He said that otherwise they didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. No wonder it was creepy since two murders had taken place in that house. He said that the staff had been instructed not to talk about the murders, and I later found out that the staff was also not to mention that anything paranormal was going on, although there have been several reports of supernatural occurrences there by several witnesses!

However, in Abingdon, Virginia, the staffs of the Martha Washington Inn and The Tavern are not reticent about discussing all of their paranormal phenomena! Just check them out on the Internet!

I really appreciate those that shared their paranormal stories with me so that I could share them with you. You just never know about the paranormal; sometimes you happen to be in the right place at the right time, and you are able see or hear or feel something supernatural, and you may even be lucky enough to catch something strange on camera. You just never know.

There are plenty of paranormal photographs that Greg, Nick, and I have taken, (Greg and Nick also have the gift of paranormal photography.) and stories we have to tell in my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" which is on Amazon. Please check out my book by clicking the widget above on this blog for more information.

Haunted or Not?

 Welcome!

I have written several blog posts about our unfinished cabin, and now, here's another one about our cabin!

This is my latest cabin photograph. It looks harmless enough.

As I've mentioned previously, I believed that our cabin was haunted because of some of the ectoplasm that showed up in some of my photographs, taken both inside and out. Also, a psychic that I consulted by phone said that she thought that the cabin was actually built on top of a slave graveyard!

Since the cabin is unfinished, so far we have used it only for storage and for yard sales.

The past ten days, it has been the temporary home for one of our cats, Kit-Cat, a stray that we've been feeding. Kit-Cat had to have emergency surgery, so we let it recuperate in our cabin.

Here (above) is a photograph I took of Kit-Cat on an old comforter inside the cabin. The photo looks a little blurred. I was disappointed that the image was not sharper, and it was too dark. I obviously did not use a flash. I usually don't use one as I prefer existing-light photos. The only thing I changed about the photo was adding my watermark.

This second photo (above) is much lighter (I didn't use a flash on this one either!), and it's a lot more blurred than the first one. Here, again, I just added my watermark.

Actually, I took four pictures. The first one was light and very blurred, the second one was dark and slightly blurred, and the ones above are the third and fourth photos.

While I was taking the pictures, I felt very frustrated because when I tried to push the button down on the camera, it hesitated on taking the picture at least a couple of times. Maybe it was because of the low light. I don't know. Perhaps it was something else! Was something messing with my camera?

Anyway, I was somewhat perturbed that the strange photos might be because of something paranormal. I was especially upset because of the fact that before we put Kit-Cat into the cabin, I smudged the cabin using a sage smudge stick, and demanded that any negative, evil entities leave the cabin forever. In fact, I told them to leave our entire property immediately! I said that only positive, good entities would remain. I also sprinkled salt in all four corners of the cabin to further get rid of any negative energy!

Good news! Today, Kit-Cat got out of the cabin, and went back to her normal life just outside our house, in the yard that she apparently loves. She seemed fine, better than ever. I thought about the blurred photos, and decided that the camera may not have operated properly because of the low light, or maybe because there were some helpful, healing spirits that were there with Kit-Cat, helping her to recuperate, because after the first couple of days of her being in the cabin, she seemed to settle down, and she did just fine. She even seemed to thrive.

Positive spirits are very acceptable, but, of course, the negative ones are not!

So, is the cabin haunted or not? The best I can tell is that positive energy is all that remains there. So, a happy ending for us all!

Questions for the Psychic

 Welcome!

Inquiring minds (Specifically Greg's and my minds!) want to know the answer to our questions about several strange happenings around our house, inside and out.

A few months ago, I contacted a psychic who told me about a man who used to live in our house before we bought it that had passed on. According to the psychic, he is still living with us in spirit, and we do believe she was right.

We did a little ritual to try to get rid of him and any others that might be around, but apparently the spirit of the man is still with us. In all honesty, we didn't do the ritual she suggested, but rather another one that was in a book that is good for when you move into a new house. I used it because I already had those materials available, and I didn't want to waste them.

We decided that when we have more time, we need to do the ritual she suggested, and that we need to use a smudge stick that is burning properly. The last time I used it, it was barely burning. Since then, I have fixed it so that it burns the way it's supposed to.

I am the world's best procrastinator, and I have been really busy with my art, working on our house, and working on things for the upcoming holidays so I have neglected getting rid of negative entities since that is just not a top priority for me right now. (Maybe it should be, however!)

Here are some strange things that have been happening the past few weeks, so I have plenty of questions for the psychic:

In September, we had a yard sale, and after the sale was over, we were just playing around and decided to take some pictures-

I was a little taken aback to see these large orbs near and on Greg's legs and feet, even after all of these years of taking paranormal photos since I usually don't take pictures just to get strange things showing up in photos.

Next, Greg took my picture, and even more orbs were surrounding me! Plus, look at the colored streaks of ectoplasm on the ceiling of the porch! What was going on!

We started putting two and two together, and we decided that at least partially, it had to do with the spirit of the former owner since many of the things that were in the yard sale were his that came with the sale of the house. This included the large heart we found in our cabin that he had apparently made for his wife since he had good carpentry skills.

So our first question to the psychic is to professionally explain the paranormal activity going on in these two photographs.

Also, after we left the porch, we went toward our nearby cabin when we both smelled strong cigarette smoke. We looked around and no one was anywhere near us. We learned from a neighbor that the man who had lived in our house smoked cigarettes!

We'll see what the psychic that I'll call in a few weeks has to say about the phantom cigarette smoke!

Notice also, in the photo featuring me, the window on the far right. A couple of times, when I was in our living room, I noticed out of the corner of my eye, a partial figure of perhaps a man perhaps on the porch quickly passing by the window. When this happened, I quickly ran to the window to look outside, but I saw nothing! Greg was outside in another part of the yard, mowing.

So, I'll ask her what I saw. Was it merely a figment of my imagination, a passing vehicle, or something else?

I mentioned the cabin earlier, and I have written about it before. Here's a picture I took of some stuffed animals in the cabin. They were here when we bought the house.

I'm afraid it didn't turn out the way I intended. It is, of course, very blurred, not from the movement of the camera, but from paranormal activity. I tried taking another picture, and it turned out the same way. I got rid of all of my old dolls and stuffed animals after I saw a television show on the paranormal about spirits sometimes inhabiting images of  people and animals.

We're really looking forward to finding out from the psychic what's going on in the cabin since it's apparently haunted, too, which I mentioned in previous blog posts.

I also have a couple of other things to ask her which I'll mention next month. There will probably be even more things, as well, knowing this place!

Be careful!

And happy Thanksgiving!

The Haunted Lamp

Welcome!

A few weeks ago, Greg and I needed something to brighten our dimly lit dining room. We looked through an antique shop, and we found just the perfect solution to brighten up the room, a beautiful antique Victorian floor lamp for an unbelievably inexpensive price.

Antique Floor Lamp

We took the lamp home with us, and placed it in the dining room. We were tired, so we went on to bed. Before I went to sleep, it barely crossed my mind that the lamp might have something negative attached to it. As I was falling asleep, I dismissed the thought, and the image of the lamp gradually faded away.

During the night, I was awakened by the sound of a turning doorknob. (I'm a very light sleeper.) A couple of minutes later, I heard a loud thud coming from somewhere in the house, like something had dropped to the floor.

After a few minutes, when I didn't hear anything else, I decided that I'd not wake up Greg, that I must have just imagined that a doorknob had turned, that I had probably just dreamed it. And, I figured that our cats had knocked over something (like our new lamp!), although they rarely ever do.

After lying awake for a while, and not hearing anything else, I finally fell asleep again.

The next morning, I told Greg about what I'd heard during the night. We looked around the house, and everything looked the same, nothing had been turned over, and nothing had fallen to the floor or anywhere else. The cats were off the hook!

I suddenly looked at our newly-purchased antique lamp, and then it occurred to me that this lamp might have been the source of the sounds that I had heard last night. My first thought was to contact John Zaffis, the "Haunted Collector," from the old paranormal television series on Syfy (2011-2013), but I decided that idea was not feasible.

A better, easier solution was to get out my white sage and to smudge the lamp to get rid of any negative, or even evil, energy, spirits, or entities, which I did. After I performed the ritual, we haven't heard any other strange noises during the night or anytime, thank goodness!

Now, we just have a beautiful antique Victorian floor lamp with no negative entities attached! Happy!

For performing a smudging ritual, please see my previous paranormal blog post, posted on June 21, 2020, entitled "Getting Rid of Negative Entities."

I'd just like to caution everyone to be careful about anything you bring into your house, especially antiques. You just don't know where they have been, or what is attached to them.

Happy smudging!

A Haunted Cabin

Welcome!

In my previous recent blog posts, I mentioned that I was going to cleanse our house on the advice of a psychic because of the negative energy of the spirit of a man who had previously lived in our house.

I did a salt-burning ritual which is especially good when moving to a new home. After the cleanse, things seemed to go a lot better for several weeks. We didn't hear or see anything strange, until a couple of days ago!

I was sitting by myself in our living room one night when I heard an unexplained noise upstairs, and the very next night, Greg and I were in the living room when we heard an unexplained noise in our nearby hallway. It wasn't our cats because they were accounted for.

I had hoped I wouldn't have to do smudging using sage, but I decided I'd better go ahead with it soon after we heard the strange noises. I'll cleanse not only our house, but any other areas of our property that might need a good cleanse, like our cabin!

I mentioned our cabin briefly on my 9/22/19 blog post. I have a picture of it on that post which shows some ectoplasm on the outside of the cabin.

This is a picture I took a few days ago of our cabin which looks harmless enough, but I wouldn't want to spend the night there!

For one thing, notice especially the upper left window pane in the above photo. It's what I call snow-and-ice-looking ectoplasm which I mention in my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" which is on Amazon. (Please see widget above.)

Then, inside the cabin, which is unfinished,...

there are unmistakable orbs and ectoplasm. I did not shake the camera as I was taking the picture. It was spirits that affected the camera to make the photograph turn out the way it did.

As a comparison, look at the photo below that I took just after I took the one above.

This one (above) looks almost normal!

One of our neighbors said that somewhere nearby, most likely on the hill behind our house, is an old slave graveyard. Greg and I both theorized that perhaps the spirits of the slaves were drawn to this cabin since it probably reminded them of where they used to live.

Also, it's possible that the former owner of our house could be here since he build this cabin himself as a workshop. He died before he could finish it. When I cleansed our house, I asked him to leave. He could have come here since I made it clear that our house was no longer his.

I'd like to recommend an intriguing video on www.philvalentine.com . It's called, interestingly enough, "The Haunted Cabin. "It's about Phil's cabin which he has investigated by a paranormal group. It seems that slaves haunt his cabin!

I'll have an update on the latest about our house, cabin, outbuildings, etc. next month. Never a dull moment at our place!

Haunted Buildings in Southwest Virginia

Welcome!

And, I'd just like to thank those that have sent me nice comments about my blogs, "Spirit Photographs" and "The Art of Positive Living."

In past blog posts, I've written that our 1901 farmhouse which we've been in for less than a year is haunted, and that I was doing a space cleansing of our house. I plan to do even more cleansing in the next few weeks. I'll tell you the results of those cleansings, plus more strange stories associated with our house on my May blog post.

Our house is not the only place that's haunted in this area of Southwest Virginia.

There are several other buildings that are haunted, as well. Three of them are below. They all house businesses.

This old house (above) is now a restaurant in Abingdon, Virginia. I blotted out the name of the business since I'm not sure the owners would want it to be known that there's more going on here than the serving of good food! Notice the orbs and ectoplasm on the upper right side of the building.

I'm not sure why this photograph is blurred. It could be that the car moved just as I was taking this photo through the car windshield, or it could be that the eerie energy of the place caused the blurring. Blurred or not, there are several obs and ectoplasm in front of, and near this building which used to be a Masonic lodge. It's now a fine bakery in Bristol, Virginia.

Finally, this is a health clinic in the small town of Meadowview. The orbs and ectoplasm are similar to the first photo on this blog post. Maybe spirits are here because illness is associated with this building.

Elaine Watson, the excellent psychic who advised me when I wrote my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," which is for sale on Amazon, (Please see the widget above.) would have said that in these three photos (above) that "Spirits can draw on the sun's energy...in order to manifest."

Please stay tuned for more in May!

Consulting a Psychic About Strange Goings-on

Welcome!

On my last blog post that I posted on Saturday, January 18, entitled "Christmas Spirits," I told about mysterious happenings in our old house that we've lived in for the past six months. I said in that post that there would probably be more strange things happening between then and now, and there have been. I also said I was going to consult a psychic about the strange goings-on, and I did.

Here's what happened-

The day after I posted my blog post, my husband, Greg, was in our downstairs bathroom, getting dressed, and our two cats, Kallie and Mitzi, were with me in the kitchen where I was giving them coconut oil which they love. Suddenly, I heard a rather loud noise like someone had dropped something on the floor above the cats and me which would be in the storage room where I've heard noises before.

About three times the night before, Greg and I both heard noises in the house after we had gone to bed. It was like a door was being opened and closed. Once there was a squeaking noise like the storage room door makes when it's pushed a certain way.

Finally, on January 22, I contacted an excellent psychic about all that was happening. I asked her one simple question, "Is our house haunted?"

She gave me her answer- that our 1901 house was, indeed, haunted by the spirit of a man who had previously lived here. He hangs around to see what's going on. He's very territorial, interested in what we're doing. He doesn't like us messing with his house.

He was not a nice person. He cheated people and even hit his wife. He was so mean that he is afraid to move on to the light, so he stays in our house.

The psychic told us what to do. She said to talk to him and to tell him nicely to leave us alone, that we need to fix the house.

We need to get rid of the negative energy, the sadness in the house. She suggested smudging, which we have done before on our other houses, but I also know of another method which I'll try first, by burning salt which I already have. We're just waiting for warmer weather so we can open the windows while we're doing our ritual.

Since I talked with the psychic, things seem to have calmed down quite a bit. Thankfully, we have had only a couple of weird occurrences the last few weeks.

One night, when Greg and I were in our bedroom, I quietly asked him if he'd noticed any "funny stuff" going on, and he said he hadn't. Then, the next morning, I went over to the heater in our bedroom, to turn it off, but it was already off. Greg said he had not turned it off. I figured it was our resident spirit that was letting me know that he was still here, and he wanted to show me an example of some funny stuff that I had asked Greg about. I decided to tell the spirit that we didn't want the heater messed with any more, to leave it alone.

Also, another night, Greg heard a knocking noise as he came out of our bathroom that is adjacent to our bedroom.

Besides noises, we also have photographic evidence of something strange, something that we can't explain-

Part of the time, Greg feeds our cats. I thought it was so cute, Kallie and Mitzi trailing behind him as he took their food to their room for them to eat, so I took this picture, above. Little did I know something strange would show up in that photo. (This was taken at the end of January, but we still hadn't put away all of our Christmas decorations for various reasons.)

Elaine Watson, a talented local psychic who helped advise me on my book,"Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," (which is for sale on Amazon) said that anything that glows in a photograph is most assuredly paranormal.

The supernatural beat goes on, until we can get our cleansing salt ritual going. We may even follow up with smudging which surely wouldn't hurt!

I'll let you know more next time.

A Haunted Swamp?

Welcome!

For the past few years, Greg and I have had to travel quite a bit from Middle Tennessee to East Tennessee since we have family there. Now that we live in Southwest, Virginia, we go back to Middle Tennessee occasionally to take care of some things.

On our 5-6 plus hour-long trips, we nearly always stop at our favorite convenience store on the way that has a pond that is actually run-off from the parking lot. We fondly refer to it as "The Swamp."

Since I do photography and sell downloads of my photos, I take lots of pictures everywhere I go. This swamp is at times actually very picturesque with its wildflowers and green algae covering the water. I've gotten many amazing photographs there.

But, one of the most amazing is this one below-

This is a photo I took at night in which there appears to be a large orb with some ectoplasm.

I've taken pictures there before, during the day, and I've gotten ectoplasm in some of those.

For some reason or other, this place seems to be really haunted. It could be because of wildlife like birds, snakes and even beavers that have perished there.

It would make a great setting for a murder mystery, a body found there in the swamp!

Anyway, for the most part, like most places, this run-off or pond or swamp looks harmless enough during the day unless you get ectoplasm in your photographs, but it looks and feels really eerie at night.

In the meantime, what was going on at the local dump a few months ago? (See photo below.)

?

(Here's a special, rather shocking note, something I just noticed a few minutes ago, just as I was getting ready to publish this post: There are two small orbs on the umbrella in the photo above! That is something to contemplate, to try to explain. Food for thought!)

Is Our "New" Old (Circa 1901) House Haunted?

Welcome!

Greg and I just recently moved to a house that we really like, but since it's so old, we wondered if it might be haunted. We've been in our new home now for two months, and we've about concluded that it is, indeed, haunted.

A house that has been around for 118 years would most certainly have at least one spirit or ghost in it!

To provide evidence for my claim, just look at the following photograph that I took during our yard sale earlier this month-

All I did to this photo was crop it off to show the paranormal aspects better, and I also added my watermark.

I cropped it even more in this photo-

Notice the obvious ectoplasm, as well as orbs, on the left side of the photo. Also, notice the antique mirrors leaning against the wall of the house. Each one has a paranormal white line running through it.

About an hour after our yard sale, I heard a loud crash upstairs. I ran up to see what had happened, when our two cats, Kallie and Mitzi, came running out of a room. I wondered what they had done, what they had been up to, but I looked around, and found nothing was amiss. Were our cats running out of the room, not in guilt over something they had done, but in fear?

I finally concluded that the former owner of the house who just recently died, didn't like us selling some of the items in the yard sale that were left at this house that he had previously owned. For example, the large orb in the photo is right above a Christmas tree that is in the white box.

What's more, there are more signs that this house is haunted-
-I took a picture of Mitzi on the stairway, and the part near her and on her were bleached out.
-Kallie often just stares up the stairway at night when no one is up there. What does she see?
-I took pictures of Greg as he was opening his birthday gifts, and ectoplasm showed up in several of the photos.
-A small potted tree on the front porch just fell over on its own; a string that was holding it upright broke. We don't know how that happened since it wasn't even windy that day.

Also, we have a little cabin on our property that's unfinished. It has no electricity or water. One day I was on the porch when I heard a noise come from the inside. How could that be when no one was in there? The door was even locked! It was supposed to have been a workshop, but apparently, the owner died before it was finished.

Our Haunted Cabin (Notice the ectoplasm!)

So, not only is our old house haunted, but our cabin is, as well, and it isn't even old!

All of this is okay with Greg and me since there doesn't seem to be any evil attached to anything that's happened so far. Besides, we're used to living in haunted houses! I tell about our houses as well as other paranormal experiences in my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind." To learn more, please click on the link above.

Two Haunted Rooms

Welcome!

This blog post is special because special family members sent me some very intriguing paranormal info.

First of all, my brother Nick and his wife Lisa went on a trip to Key West during the winter. (Everyone should be so lucky!)

They stayed in the Marrero Guest Mansion which is "one of the top haunted sites in Key West," according to my brother.

Marrero Guest Mansion (Photo by Nick)

And, their room was "the most haunted place in the house."

Nick's Photo of the Haunted Room

They took a ghost tour in which they learned that this mansion was "a hot spot of paranormal activity." Nick on to say that a lady who formerly lived there used their room as her bedroom, and her apparition has been seen walking near the bed!

Nick and Lisa spent two nights there. (That was brave!) The first night they heard something fall in the floor after they'd gone to bed. Nick said that it turned out to be a shopping bag that had fallen from the top of a chest of drawers for no apparent reason. The second night, they heard "creaking sounds, like footsteps, on the old wooden floor" in their room again after they turned off the lights. Lisa sat up in bed and felt as if though "someone was walking around the room near her side of the bed."

Nick went on to say that they read about "other guests experiencing similar occurrences." He said that YouTube has some good videos of investigators trying to capture some of  these sounds.

They were lucky to have come into contact with this paranormal activity which not very many get to experience.

Another family member, our sister-in-law Cris, is really into the paranormal just as we are.

She recently sent us an interesting article that was in the "Times Free Press" about a ghost in a room at the Read House in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The reporter for the newspaper wrote an article about him and his wife who spent the night in the haunted room, but nothing happened that night even though they tried to encourage interaction between them and the ghostly entity wherever it might be.

You just never know about a place that is haunted. The spirit world is so unpredictable! The spirits appear, make contact, etc. when they want, not when we in the "real" world want them to!

Cris recommended a terrific book for Greg and me. And, I recommend it to all of you. It's called "True Tales of Ghostly Encounters" by Andrew Honigman who compiled and edited the stories. I got it on Amazon for only $7.00.

Thanks, guys, for sharing your intriguing stories and photos. Keep up the good work!
