"Paranormal Book"

 Welcome!

Greg and I recently went to a local writers fair, and I told another author about my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind." I explained what the book was about since she was really curious and intrigued about Greg's and my ability to take pictures of the paranormal.

I told her that we didn't see spirits before we took pictures, and that most of the time, we don't intend to take paranormal photographs. Instead, the spirits just show up in our photos when we least expect them.

For example, a few days ago, I was taking pictures for a new book that I am writing about the picturesque area in which we live, never intending to get anything paranormal, when I noticed that something paranormal did show up!-

Notice the large balls of ectoplasm or orbs to the left of the old building. They show up really well against the dark foliage.

This ectoplasm could be the spirits of either people or animals that died recently, or they may have been in this area for many years, or even for centuries! What types of animals, or humans were these? If they were the spirits of people, were they perhaps those of cave men, Native Americans, or pioneers?

What caused this paranormal phenomenon? I can only make an educated guess since I'm good at taking paranormal pictures, but I have no idea how to interpret them.

I leave the interpretation of paranormal phenomena to the experts, genuine psychics who specialize in these things.

In my paranormal book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind Ordinary People, Extraordinary Encounters," I was fortunate enough to have a gifted psychic, Elaine Watson, who is now deceased, to explain most of the (Over 100!) photographs in my book that Greg, my brother, Nick, and I took.

A few of the intriguing chapters in the book are, "Unusual Ectoplasm," "Shadow Ghosts," and "My Childhood Home," as well as others.

The Kindle version of my book is now on Amazon. For more information, please see the widget above for more details.

"Spirits Are Real!"

 Welcome!

After the passing of our beloved cat, Kallie, a few months ago, I'm more convinced than ever that spirits are real, that spirits of people and pets do survive.

Here is our memorial for Kallie which is in our flower garden.

As I mentioned in my last few blog posts, Kallie has been sending us signs that she is still with us. There is not quite as much evidence now that Kallie is around us as there was at first, but at times, she still makes herself known.

Sometimes, especially at night, our cat, Mitzi, a sibling of Kallie's, will stare at the floor as if she is watching something. Would that something be Kallie's spirit?

I, for the past few weeks, have heard faint meows different places at different times in our house. These meows weren't from Mitzi or our outdoor cat, Kit-Cat, since they were both sound asleep when I heard the meows.

Just a couple of days ago, I was carrying some cat food up the steps, when I heard a little meow on the stairway. (As I mentioned in a previous blog post, a stairway can be a place where spirits enter our earthly plane from the spirit world.)

Of course, I'm no stranger to the paranormal since, around the age of four, when I was walking from one room to another at night, balancing a thing on my head, and carrying an object in each hand, I saw something that terrified me so much that I called out to Mama for help.

When she ran to console me, I told her that I saw something scary. I thought I had seen a hand.

Years later, I decided that what I had seen was not of this world.

Eventually, I discovered that I had a talent of taking pictures of spirits, and that my husband, Greg, also possessed the same talent! After all, though, we are soulmates. Paranormal photography runs in my birth family, as well.

In fact, since there were so many paranormal photographs that we had taken, I decided to write a book based on them. There are over 100 paranormal photographs with explanations for each of them in my book.

The title of my book is "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" which is a Kindle book on Amazon. For more information, just click on the widget above.

I am, as you might imagine, really curious about spirits, other planes of existence, so I read and research a lot.

Recently, I decided to research online about people who had lost their pets to see what their experiences had been like. I discovered that they had had similar experiences to Greg's and mine, like seeing their spirit pets out of the corners of their eyes, etc. One woman even showed a picture of her ghost pet's paw touching a new kitten that the woman had! Many people continued to have these types of incidents for months or even longer after they had lost their pets.

I'm currently reading a fascinating book, "The Dream," written by prolific author David Icke. In the book, he discusses life on Earth, as well as the astral world. It's mind boggling, to say the least!

I'll have even more to write about next month. Please stay tuned!

Thanks for visiting! Until around Saturday, May 18, 2024, Becky

A Psychic Reading, and a Paranormal Update

 Welcome!

Since I was a teenager, I've been interested in the paranormal. I come by it naturally since my grandmother and mother leaned in that direction. My grandmother loved to read her horoscope in the newspaper, and Mama was very open to psychic phenomena, and she was very intuitive.

Daddy took pictures that often contained ectoplasm, but he'd just say that the film messed up, not realizing that many of his photographs were actually paranormal.

My brother, Nick, and I both inherited the paranormal photography talent from Daddy. Mama didn't normally take many pictures, but I suspect that if she had, she would have had that gift, as well.

After Greg and I were married, we discovered that he, too, was talented in psychic photography! In fact, Greg could fill a book with his paranormal photographs if he wanted to. It's just that he, like Mama, doesn't take nearly as many photographs as I do.

The truth is that all of us have at least one psychic gift, whether we realize it or not. After you find your gift, you need to use and develop it.

There are several psychic abilities besides psychic photography-having psychic dreams, hearing and/or seeing the paranormal, etc.

I can take paranormal photos, but I don't know how to interpret them, so that is where people like Maria come in. Maria is very gifted in her ability to give psychic readings. I call her on the phone whenever I need to know something in the realm of the paranormal.

A few days ago, I got a very informative psychic reading from this amazing psychic that I hadn't contacted in over a year. I had a lot to ask her, and this reading lasted for over an hour!

First, I asked her about a photo that Greg had taken a couple of weeks ago-

This photo is completely untouched except for the added watermark.

It was a picture of a sunset with several wispy clouds, and in the lower right side of the picture is vibrant white cloud-shaped ectoplasm. And that's not all! Notice also the other faint ectoplasm and several orbs in the photo. At the bottom center of the picture is a small colored orb.

In Maria's analysis of  Greg's photo, she said that there were a lot of dead people in our area, due to the Civil War, and that the spirits like Greg's energy.

Another wonderful psychic, Elaine, (who is now a spirit herself, and is featured in my paranormal book*) once told me that anytime you see something glowing in a photo (like in Greg's photo above), that it's paranormal.

Also, I have a paranormal update. In last month's "Spirit Photographs" blog post, "Eerie Spirit Photo," on Saturday, February 18, 2023, there was a picture of a tree that I took. Maria said that the spirits liked to be acknowledged by me.

I have a lot more to tell you about Maria's amazing reading that I'll save to write about in next month's blog post, including showing you a partial eerie photo that my brother recently sent me that is really different than any I have ever seen. It's really creepy, and it frightens me although I've seen and taken a lot of really strange photographs myself!

To be continued next month...

*My book is "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," and it is full of paranormal photography (with narrative), that Nick, Greg, and I have taken. For more information about my book on Amazon Kindle, please click the widget above.

"Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind"

 Welcome!

A couple of days ago, I was in our art room, and as I glanced around the room, I decided to go over to the area where I had my first book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," displayed.

Some Copies of My First Book on Display

I then thought that some people that are interested in the paranormal might not be aware that I have this book for sale that has over 100 genuine paranormal photographs that I, my husband, Greg, and my brother, Nick, and a few other people that we know have taken.

June Tolliver House Ghost Photo

I have a copy of the famous June Tolliver House ghost photo which hangs in our art room. It was taken by my brother, Nick, when he was just a school boy. Everyone in our family thought that it looked like there was a ghost in one of the June Tolliver House windows in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. However, just to make sure, we took it to a locally famous photographer in our area, and after he enlarged and studied it, he didn't know what to think since the ghostly image was still there. Even when it was enlarged to poster-size, the apparent ghost remained!

This was our first excursion into the world of paranormal photography. Later, we gradually discovered that I had the gift of paranormal photography, too! After I married Greg, we were amazed that many of his photos also contained supernatural images.

So, we decided that since we had so many supernatural photos that I should write a book telling about many of them. (Not all of our photos made it into the book since there were so many that they would probably fill a large dictionary-sized book, so we narrowed them down to a few of our favorites.)

And, the photos just keep coming! Some day I may write another book which includes many of the paranormal photos I've featured on this blog, plus others that we've yet to show.

Not only is each photograph explained in the book, but there are also real ghost stories told by people in our region in the book, as well. One of these stories is about a haunted car which one of my former students wrote about and shared with me.

My book features paranormal photographs from my childhood which my father took, (Guess my brother and I got our unusual talent from him!) until recent years. They were mostly taken in our Southern Appalachian Mountain region, but some were taken as far away as Europe. (Boy, is that area haunted!)

There are chapters about ectoplasm, orbs, shadow ghosts, and a few featuring rarely documented images like the ghost in the mirror at one of our holiday gatherings!

To get the Kindle version of "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" on Amazon for just $2.99, please click the widget above.*

Enjoy!

And Happy Spring!

*The paperback version is no longer available for sale.

A Paranormal Photo, Plus...

Welcome!

I'd just like to share with you a recent photo that I took. I was sitting at a traffic light when I saw and decided to take a quick photo of a pretty flower in a churchyard before the light changed. I'm glad I did, for more reasons than one. I not only have a photo of a pretty flower, but I captured some ectoplasm, as well!

As I mentioned in my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," spirits, as a rule, tend to be attracted to churches and churchyards. Guess this photo sort of confirms that!

Also, Greg and I recently got an interesting email from a relative, Cris, who is really into the paranormal just like we are.

The email was about Pere Cheney which is believed to be the most haunted place in Michigan. (Cris used to live in Michigan, and this area is only a few minutes away from her family home.) They say that "witches, ghosts, and other strange beings" dwell there. Glowing lights have been spotted in this area, also.

Check out this intriguing story, as well as several other haunted-Michigan tales at www.99wfmk.com . Or, you could  type in "John Robinson's Haunted Michigan" to access these true scary stories.

Enjoy!

Happy Labor Day!

The Haunting Lure of a Lake

Welcome!

Great to have you back!

Greg and I had a close encounter or two with the spirit world during these past few weeks, as we usually do!

Not long ago, we met some family members in beautiful Lake Lure, North Carolina.  We stayed at lovely "The 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa" where the stars and crew of the hit movie, "Dirty Dancing" stayed while filming was going on.

The 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa

Our sister-in-law who is really into the paranormal as we are, was staying with her husband at another place at Lake Lure that she knew was haunted.  We had wanted to spend the night there, as well, but we were unable to get a room, so we ended up at the 1927 Inn.

I had told Greg before we left for Lake Lure, that I bet our place would be haunted, too, that Patrick Swayze, the star of "Dirty Dancing," probably haunts that place.  We found out that apparently, the inn is haunted!

We were fortunate enough to have been just down the hall from a room that was supposed to be haunted, number 217, since a murder-suicide had taken place there.  Once, a guest even left that room early, during the night.  Animals that have stayed in the room don't seem to like it, as they nervously pace the floor until they can leave.

And, close by, was the suite, number 215, where Patrick Swayze stayed.  Although no one said anything about his suite being haunted, a couple of pictures I took outside his door had some ectoplasm.  Whether the ectoplasm was just a spillover from the nearby haunted room or not is anyone's guess.

Left, the "Haunted" Room, and at the End of the Hall, Patrick Swayze's Suite

I would't be surprised if Patrick Swayze's ghost was right there, though, because I can see how anyone who had stayed there would want to haunt that fabulous place!  It's a little bit of heaven on earth!

The people in charge of the inn are not shy about it being haunted as you can read about the paranormal goings-on in the lobby, and/or talk with an employee who has had first-hand encounters with the spirit world.

We got to talk with another Patrick, the events coordinator, at the inn, who  had captured a ghost boy on his camera during a wedding there.  We were fortunate that we got to see the photo with the distinct ghostly image.  Patrick was very lucky (and gifted!) because capturing an apparition on camera is a rare event!

That wasn't all!  Patrick also told us that he'd also been touched on the shoulder three different times there at the inn.

In addition, a housekeeper had seen an apparition in a white dress that even spoke to her.

Several other paranormal events have happened there, as well.

We got paranormal grids in several of the mirrors there (in the ladies' room, the hallway, and even the haunted room [My sister-in-law and I asked the guest staying in that room if we could take a couple of pictures of his room since it was supposed to be haunted.  He was a good sport about it, but said he'd not tell his wife that it was haunted as she would want to leave.  It would be interesting to see how they got through the night!]  There was nothing paranormal going on in Greg's and my mirror [or room], so we had a good night's sleep!)

Another reason there is so much spirit activity going on there is perhaps because it was a hospital for a time.

Anyway, if you'd like to go visit a fantastic place that has it all (even ghosts!), you might want to take a trip to haunting Lake Lure, North Carolina!

Note: Sunday, July 12, "Finding Bigfoot" finale on "Animal Planet!"

The Latest on the Paranormal

Welcome!

I'd just like to share with you the latest info I have on the paranormal.

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who helped my "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" Facebook page exceed the goal of over 100 likes!  I said that when we reached that goal, I'd have a contest for all those who'd like to participate.  I decided to begin the contest sometime around the first of September.  It should be fun!

I'm reading an interesting book, "You are a Medium" by psychic medium Sherrie Dillard.  She says that you can learn to "communicate with the other side using your natural psychic abilities."  She gives insightful messages from the other side.  They help us and, we can help them!

A strange thing happened to me this past week.  I was sitting in the living room, meditating, when I heard a noise like the front door opening, twice, within minutes of each other.)  I kept waiting for Greg to come through the door, but he didn't get home until fifteen minutes later!

Our Front Door

This is the same unusual phenomenon which I wrote about in my book  "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind."  Pick up a copy and see for yourself!

And, how was your paranormal week?

Thanks for visiting!  Until next Sunday, Becky

Haunted Living Room

Welcome!

I have written on previous blog posts about our new house being haunted, because of the strange things we have seen and heard.

I am beginning to think that our living room is the most haunted room in our house.  As I mentioned on a earlier post, we had a local psychic tour our home, to see what she thought about some of the unusual things that were going on.  She said that our living room was a "passby room" through which spirits roamed.

Haunted Living Room

Because of the nature of Greg's job, I sometimes have to be by myself late at night.  After I do my evening chores, I sit on the couch in our living room, to make plans for the following day.  Most of the time, our calico cat, Kallie, comes and curls up on my lap while I am working.  Before she settles down, she'll stare above my head around the area of the large painting on the wall behind where I'm sitting.  Her eyes dart three or four places, like she's looking at different things, but she doesn't seem alarmed; she just merely observes, studies everything for a few moments, and then she's ready for her nap.  It's a little unnerving when she does this, for I have no idea what (or who!) she's seeing.  I guess I'll need to consult a psychic about that one!

Then, just yesterday, Greg and I had a couple of visitors in the evening.  We were all in the living room.  Greg and I were standing, facing the couch, while the two ladies were seated, one in the large chair and the other on the couch.  Suddenly, the woman on the couch grabbed her right shoulder and said, "Something just touched my shoulder," as she quickly turned her head to see who the culprit might have been.  I said that I guessed that she was thinking that it might have been one of our cats, as I tried to make casual conversation.  Her friend tried to blame the feeling of being touched on the woman's long hair hitting her shoulder.  (We all do try to come up with  logical explanations for the unexplained things that happen in our lives.)  Then, without thinking, I blurted out that our house was haunted, in a half-joking tone, as I tried to bring closure to all of this.  However, the two ladies didn't hang around much longer after that!

Greg and I were probably as taken aback as the woman was that this had happened.  Personally, we thankfully have never experienced being touched by anything in the unseen, in our house or anywhere else, and we certainly hope that we never will be.  (However, you just don't know about things like this, because the paranormal is usually so darn unpredictable!)

Comments from Fans of "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind"

Welcome!

I just recently received a really nice letter from someone who had read my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind."  With the risk of looking as though I'm bragging (for I certainly don't mean to do that!  I just wanted you to know that several people think that my book is worthwhile.), it inspired me to share it, along with some other comments that people have made about my new book.

Here is a portion of the letter that I mentioned above:

"I think your book is terrific.  I love how you captured so many entities by taking pictures.  I especially liked the one of the June Tolliver House.  (Although I didn't take that one!)  Now, when I go by there, I always look to see if someone is looking out the window at me.  Your book is great."

Here are some other comments via email, in person, etc.:

"Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" is extremely interesting and thought provoking!  What amazing pictures you have taken and collected!...I have been sharing information on your book with others.  I admire your courage and perseverance."

"I love your book."

"I'll...always be a fan of yours."

I'm so grateful for comments like these from people who have read my book.  I'm a little overwhelmed, for I didn't actually expect the response I've gotten.

The book really didn't take much courage, because I knew I had a story I had to tell, and I just decided it was something that I needed to do, no matter what the reaction was.  I think it's good to express our thoughts and feelings as long as we don't hurt others or ourselves.

I believe it's a book that almost everyone can relate to, for most people, whether they admit it or not, have had some kind of personal experience with the paranormal at some time in their lives.

The truth is, there are things that we just don't understand.  Life is a fascinating mystery that is just waiting to be solved.

I really appreciate any of you that are spreading the word about my book, whether by word of mouth, by Facebook, or however, for if this book does well, I'm planning a second paranormal book for next year which would include among other things, chapters on an enchanted park in East Tennessee, a paranormal ghost-hunting group in Southwest Virginia, and the supernatural goings-on in our present home.

If you're in the area, please stop by and see me at the book signing for my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," at the Spring Hill Library in Spring Hill, Tennessee on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 AM.  Light refreshments will be provided.

A Book Signing at Maury County Public Library

Welcome!

Last week, there was a book signing at the Maury County Public Library in Columbia, Tennessee for my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind."

First of all, I'd like to thank those who came to the signing and bought my books, and I'd like to express a special thanks to Adam Southern, reference librarian, who hosted this event, complete with refreshments.

Here's what happened during part of my visit to the library, in words and pictures: (As always, all blog post material is under the copyright of Becky Arnott.)

This old sign was restored for its present use in the library.

                                                          Site of the Book Signing

Here are two of our participants (Molly Brasfield and Debbie Brasfield) with Adam Southern who, besides working in the library, also gives ghost tours of Columbia.  (Please see my Friday, August 24, 2012 blog post for more information.)

While there, I tried to capture the spirit world on film, as Adam told us that the library was haunted.  I was hoping that ectoplasm or some other spirit phenomenon would show up in the mirror that I brought with me from home, but all I got were streaks (because it's an old mirror) and reflections.* (See below.)

If you have really sharp eyes, you can see one very faint orb on the floor area.  The reason I took pictures in this part of the library is because Adam said that this is where the "lady in white" has often been spotted, especially around 8:00 PM.  (I'll have you know that we all evacuated the building before eight o'clock!  It's one thing to take a picture of some orbs, but quite another for a spirit to make an appearance right before your very eyes!)

Someone who was at the signing said that she went over and casually touched the mouse of one of the computers, and shortly after it came on, the computer beside it turned itself on!  Guess that was a high-tech type of ghost!

*Look how different the mirror looks in this picture that I took after I got back home that night!  I've about concluded that the imagery in at least some of the mirrors changes as they are moved to different places.

The paranormal is always so intriguing!

Thanks for visiting!  (My next blog post will be next Monday, October 28 when I'll tell about the paranormal happenings at a big paranormal event in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.  Please see the end of my last blog post [Sunday, October 13] for details.)  -Becky

I Take Spirit Photos!

Welcome!

I have been interested in the paranormal since I was a child.  Even now, I have a childlike wonder of subjects such as space aliens, Stonehenge, crop circles, and, of course, ghosts.  I love shows that feature strange phenomena.  I'm most curious about ghosts, since I discovered a few years ago that I had the knack of taking pictures of the spirit world.  (I'm not alone in this as my brother and even my husband also have this same ability!)  We're nothing special.  We're just ordinary people who have had some extraordinary photographic experiences.

I plan to have a book out soon which details our adventures into the unknown.

I'd like to share with you a couple of my copyrighted supernatural photos.

I am a re-designer and organizer as well as an amateur photographer.  One day, as I was rearranging some furniture in a client's house, I noticed some ectoplasm in a photo I'd taken while documenting "before" and "after" pictures, as I always do when I work on a job.  (Believe it or not, most of the time, I don't even think about taking pictures of spirits, nor do I see them ahead of time.  They just occasionally decide to show up when I least expect it!)

The ectoplasm is pretty obvious in this photo.

My mother and I were greeting someone we know when my husband Greg snapped this photo.

It looks as though the tiny orb above this man's head (whose face is blacked out for privacy) is reflecting on his bald spot.  Guess some orbs even have a sense of humor!

If you'd like to share supernatural stories, etc., please e-mail me: spiritphotographs@gmail.com .

Thanks for visiting!  Until next Saturday, Becky

My First Paranormal Blog Post

Welcome to Spirit Photographs!

This is the very first blog post of my new blog, "Spirit Photographs." (I have another blog, "The Art of Positive Living," on Blogger.)

Upper Windows of a Haunted House, the Subject of a Future Blog Post

I'm writing a blog about the paranormal, (According to the online Thesaurus, "paranormal" means "supernatural,...ghostly, metaphysical, mysterious,...unearthly".) because I love delving into the unknown.  Even as a child, I was fascinated by things out of the ordinary.  I was even more intrigued when my little brother, Nick, took a picture with his inexpensive camera of a supernatural entity in the window of a historic old house in Southwest Virginia.  (Please see the 7/24/11 blog post, "June Tolliver House, Big Stone Gap, Virginia" on my other blog, "The Art of Positive Living" for more info.)

Years later, I discovered that not only my brother, but my husband and I, as well, had the unusual ability to take photographs of the paranormal.

In fact, I have written a book about our experiences which I plan to have published soon.  I'll let you know later when my book is published, hopefully, as both a paperback and an e-book.

On this blog, I'll discuss all types of paranormal subjects, and would welcome anything you, the reader, would like to share about the supernatural.  If you decide to e-mail any stories, etc., my e-mail address is spiritphotographs@gmail.com.  I'll list your first name and your city and state, along with your paranormal info, news, or tidbit.

Personal paranormal tidbit: My earliest recollection of the paranormal was when I was around three or four years old.  One night, I went into another room and started screaming.  My mother came running to see what was wrong, and I told her I had seen a hand.  I couldn't remember all the details, as I had been so frightened.  She tried to show me that it had been only a shadow, but I wasn't convinced!
