Paranormal Gift-Giving Idea

Welcome!

Earlier this week, I was talking to a personable man on the the phone who was helping me with a business matter when I mentioned to him that I had written a book on the paranormal.  Immediately, his voice changed, and he started telling me about seeing two family members who had passed on.  He said that ever since then he had been very interested in the paranormal.  He asked me the name of my book and where to get a copy.

Almost everyone I've talked with has had or knows someone who has had a personal, paranormal experience which quickly makes believers out of them.  So, there are a lot more people than you'd think that are really interested in the supernatural.

If you know someone who would like more information on the paranormal, might I give you a gift-giving idea for Christmas, or anytime, really, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" by Becky Arnott.  This book, with the help of over 100 genuine spirit photographs, taken by the author, husband Greg, and others, has examples of orbs, ectoplasm, shadow ghosts, grids, etc. and even three apparitions!  (Capturing any apparition on camera is pretty rare.)

June Tolliver House Ghost Photo

Welcome!

During this time of year, when ghosts rule, more people start searching for June Tolliver ghost info.

The June Tolliver House Last Year, with an Artist's Rendition of the June Tolliver House Ghost

It all started when my brother, who was just a school boy, took a picture of the June Tolliver house in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.  What showed up in that upstairs window, has led to much speculation.  Because of that picture, taken on an Easter Sunday, many years ago, I discovered that not only my brother, but that I also had a gift for taking paranormal photos.  Years later, strangely enough, when I got married, I discovered that my husband had this gift as well!

After a while, we had lots of paranormal photographs in our albums, so I decided to write a book about them.  The book, of course, is "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind."

Yes, I did write about the June Tolliver House ghost picture.  In fact, there is a whole chapter devoted to the June Tolliver House in my book.  The now famous ghost picture is even on the cover of the book.

People want to know how to get a copy of "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind."  On my "Spirit Photographs" blog, you can just click on my book widget at the top of the page, or on my Facebook page, you can click on "About," then under "Description," just click on "See more," and that will tell you where all you can get a copy for yourself and/or one for someone else.

Also, I've written several blog posts about the June Tolliver House.  Just take a look at my "Spirit Photographs" blog and see for yourself!

"The Post" Newspaper Paranormal Article, Big Stone Gap, Virginia

Welcome!

Glenn Gannaway, a writer for "The Post" newspaper in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, wrote an interesting article about my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind."  I'd like to share excerpts from that article with you on this blog post.

The July 25, 2013 article is entitled, "Drama Alum Documents Paranormal Activity."

"(Becky) Arnott's sensitivity to the spirit world goes back to her childhood, when she and her brother were afraid to go upstairs, in their...Big Stone Gap home...They found out later that someone had died upstairs.

Arnott's previous home in (East Tennessee) was also haunted, she said: 'we just can't seem to get away from these things.'

The book is compiled from about 80 photo albums.  Arnott went through all the albums methodically to see if she could pick out anything suggesting paranormal activity.

...her book includes about 110 (paranormal) photographs and some text in 105 pages.  Included are pictures taken in the British Isles...

...ghost stories are included in the book, including the notorious story of the ghost that was photographed in a window of the June Tolliver House by her brother Nick when he was a schoolboy...Arnott has...interviewed several people about their Tolliver house experiences...Arnott said, 'I have eyewitnesses, people who have seen things and heard things.' Comments from Fans of "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind"

Welcome!

I just recently received a really nice letter from someone who had read my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind."  With the risk of looking as though I'm bragging (for I certainly don't mean to do that!  I just wanted you to know that several people think that my book is worthwhile.), it inspired me to share it, along with some other comments that people have made about my new book.

Here is a portion of the letter that I mentioned above:

"I think your book is terrific.  I love how you captured so many entities by taking pictures.  I especially liked the one of the June Tolliver House.  (Although I didn't take that one!)  Now, when I go by there, I always look to see if someone is looking out the window at me.  Your book is great."

Here are some other comments via email, in person, etc.:

"Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" is extremely interesting and thought provoking!  What amazing pictures you have taken and collected!...I have been sharing information on your book with others.  I admire your courage and perseverance."

"I love your book."

"I'll...always be a fan of yours."

I'm so grateful for comments like these from people who have read my book.  I'm a little overwhelmed, for I didn't actually expect the response I've gotten.

The book really didn't take much courage, because I knew I had a story I had to tell, and I just decided it was something that I needed to do, no matter what the reaction was.  I think it's good to express our thoughts and feelings as long as we don't hurt others or ourselves.

I believe it's a book that almost everyone can relate to, for most people, whether they admit it or not, have had some kind of personal experience with the paranormal at some time in their lives.

The truth is, there are things that we just don't understand.  Life is a fascinating mystery that is just waiting to be solved.

I really appreciate any of you that are spreading the word about my book, whether by word of mouth, by Facebook, or however, for if this book does well, I'm planning a second paranormal book for next year which would include among other things, chapters on an enchanted park in East Tennessee, a paranormal ghost-hunting group in Southwest Virginia, and the supernatural goings-on in our present home.

If you're in the area, please stop by and see me at the book signing for my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," at the Spring Hill Library in Spring Hill, Tennessee on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 AM.  Light refreshments will be provided.

Big Stone Gap Book-signing Followup

Welcome!

(And, a special welcome to Lora, our latest Follower!)

We did have a great time at the June Tolliver House in Big Stone Gap, Virginia last week, greeting everyone who attended the book signing.  I'd like to especially thank everyone who bought my new book, Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind .

I just wanted to share with you what some people have said about my new book:

"Awesome!"
-Elaine Watson, Professional Psychic

"Becky Arnott's  intriguing stories and fascinating photographs share, as she puts it, 'the experiences of ordinary people who have had some extraordinary ghostly encounters.'  Arnott clearly has a gift for capturing the spirit world on film, with distinctive ectoplasmic shapes, patterns in mirrors, and ghostly reflections in window panes, readers, even skeptical ones, will be left with no doubt that there is a sharp connection between physical and spiritual realms."
-Karen Darlington Aldridge
Director, Living Writers Collective
Multipublished freelance writer and copyeditor

"...We would recommend this (book) to even a casual reader of spirit and ghost stories and also to the more advanced readers of the afterlife."
-Adam and Amber Mabry
Natural Ginesis

For the readers of this blog, I'd like to share with you a photo I took while I was there at the signing.
About a half a dozen people were standing around, while on a whim, I decided to take a picture of the antique mirror which hangs over the mantle in the parlor of the June Tolliver House.  We were amazed.  I was lucky to capture a really good grid in this photo.  I had photographed it before, and there is a picture of it in my book, but it was faint and indistinct.  In this picture, the grid is strong and definite.

New Paranormal Book

Welcome back!

I just wanted you to know that my new paranormal book is now available in either paperback or PDF download.

The title of the book is Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind.  It contains paranormal photographs that my brother, my husband, other people, and I have taken throughout the years.

Many ghost books only show pictures of buildings that they say are haunted, and then they tell a story about them, but there's nothing supernatural about the photos.  However, almost all of the photos in my book (around 110) contain some type of ectoplasm in them, with interesting tidbits or stories about each one.

In addition, I also have a couple of chapters, as a sort of bonus, that are devoted to true, never-before- told ghost stories.

This Saturday, July 27, I will be at the June Tolliver House in Big Stone Gap, Virginia for a book signing.  In the book, I devote a whole chapter to the haunted June Tolliver House.  One of the pictures in that chapter is the locally famous June Tolliver House ghost picture.

Hope to see you there!

Haunted June Tolliver House, Big Stone Gap, Virginia

Welcome!

The June Tolliver House in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, my old home town, actually started my interest in supernatural photography.  My brother, when only a school boy, took a photo of the outside of the world famous Tolliver House that showed a very distinct  apparition in an upstairs window.  The photo is locally famous there, but, hopefully, will be world-famous, as my paranormal book on spirit  photography will be published soon.

The June Tolliver House, Minus the Ghost

I've written a whole chapter in the book on the June Tolliver House which contains stories of people who have worked there, and, of course, several very interesting photos, some of which were taken by people besides my husband Greg and me.

I'll let you know on this blog when my book is published.

If you have anything of a paranormal nature to share, please email:  spiritphotographs@gmail.com

And, Happy Halloween!

My First Paranormal Blog Post

Welcome to Spirit Photographs!

This is the very first blog post of my new blog, "Spirit Photographs." (I have another blog, "The Art of Positive Living," on Blogger.)

Upper Windows of a Haunted House, the Subject of a Future Blog Post

I'm writing a blog about the paranormal, (According to the online Thesaurus, "paranormal" means "supernatural,...ghostly, metaphysical, mysterious,...unearthly".) because I love delving into the unknown.  Even as a child, I was fascinated by things out of the ordinary.  I was even more intrigued when my little brother, Nick, took a picture with his inexpensive camera of a supernatural entity in the window of a historic old house in Southwest Virginia.  (Please see the 7/24/11 blog post, "June Tolliver House, Big Stone Gap, Virginia" on my other blog, "The Art of Positive Living" for more info.)

Years later, I discovered that not only my brother, but my husband and I, as well, had the unusual ability to take photographs of the paranormal.

In fact, I have written a book about our experiences which I plan to have published soon.  I'll let you know later when my book is published, hopefully, as both a paperback and an e-book.

On this blog, I'll discuss all types of paranormal subjects, and would welcome anything you, the reader, would like to share about the supernatural.  If you decide to e-mail any stories, etc., my e-mail address is spiritphotographs@gmail.com.  I'll list your first name and your city and state, along with your paranormal info, news, or tidbit.

Personal paranormal tidbit: My earliest recollection of the paranormal was when I was around three or four years old.  One night, I went into another room and started screaming.  My mother came running to see what was wrong, and I told her I had seen a hand.  I couldn't remember all the details, as I had been so frightened.  She tried to show me that it had been only a shadow, but I wasn't convinced!
