A Weird Photograph!

At the end of my last blog post, entitled "A Haunted Mansion, Revisited," which I published on March 28, 2026, I mentioned that there was a paranormal photograph the I would never put on my blog. I will tell you about that photograph in this blog post.

Most of the time, at least for me, spirits show up in my photographs when I least expect them, like a couple of weeks before we visited the haunted mansion in Wytheville, Virginia, Greg and I were in our car. Greg was driving, and I decided to take a picture through the car windshield of a pretty tree on a hill. I didn't have time to use the telephoto, so I took more of the area than I had planned. Also, my shot was right toward the bright sun, which I, of course, did not look at as I was taking the picture.

The reulting photo was that I did get a picture of the tree and part of the road. There was a bright streak of light coming from the sun which went down to the road. At the end of the streak was sort of an abstract human figure with two slots for eyes.

It was somewhat like Edvard Munch's painting, "The Scream," except that the face had no features, and there were no arms and legs.

We thought it was kind of scary. Neither Greg nor I liked what we saw, therefore, I just decided to delete the picture in my camera, as well as the one I put on the computer since it seemed evil to me, and I don't hsve anything to do with evil!

Greg and I called our psychic, and she gave her impression of the photograph that I described to her as I remembered it. At first, she said that it was a male in the photo, but then she also felt a female. She finally decided that there was a female standing behind the male. They were husband and wife..They were attached to the land, and they deeply cared about the tree, and they guarded it. We had felt weird and frightened when we saw the picture because of the stern attitude they had for the tree. They want to keep people from harming it. They are suspicious of people who come near it, so they act scary to keep people away from it. 

Originally, I was attracted to the tree several weeks ago, when I decided to take a picture of it. I thought it would make a nice photograph, a graceful tree on a sloping hill. The psychic said there was a lot of love toward the tree from people that pass by it. It's a beautiful, very old tree that is well-protected by the spirits that also love it..

Most of the time, I still take pictures when we drive by that tree which is about once a week. I've gotten some ectoplasm in all of the pictures that I've taken there the past few weeks, but the most recent picture I took was a coulpe of days ago. I took it toward the sun, but again, I did not look at the sun, of course, just like when I took the other picture that I described earlier. This photograph was also weird, but in different, more elaborate ways.

Notice the large, colorful orbs and the ectoplasm! The beloved tree is the smaller one on the left.

However, I assume that the psychic would would say sometwhat the same thing about the above photo as she did about the one that I described for her. However, if she says anything different about this picture, I'll let you know in a future blog post.

Two Unusual Photographs, One Creepy, One Paranormal

Last month in my 3/18/23 blog post, entitled "A Psychic Reading, and a Paranormal Update," I said that a talented psychic named Maria (not her real name) had done a reading for me about a couple of Greg's and my paranormal photographs which I wrote about in that post. I also mentioned that I had another (Really creepy!) photograph that I had asked her to interpret, but I said that I would save it for this April blog post.

I also have an additional photograph to share in this post. 

So, today, I have two unusual photographs, one creepy, one paranormal.

The creepy photo is the one that my brother, Nick, sent me that someone had sent him, a picture of woman who had taken a selfie in a famous Southern hotel. When the woman looked at the picture she had taken, she had thought it was a ghost since the place is known to be haunted.

Nick was confounded by it, and he wanted to know what we thought of it.

Greg and I were as puzzled as Nick was, and we felt that the photo was just weird, very strange, not anything that we normally encountered, even with all of the paranormal photographs we have taken throughout the years.

So, I very briefly described the photo to the psychic (She doesn't even need to look at the pictures that she interprets.), and Maria said that the 'ghost' was a real person, not from the spirit world, and that he has a different aura since his aura has changed. He's weird and off-balance. He's thinking about death. She said that in one to three months there would be an accident.

(At least I got the "weird" part right), but it's also very sad, and strange that the woman who took the photo would capture that man in the photo at the very same time that she took the selfie!

Also, most people think that all paranormal photos are scary, but they don't have to be.

Just recently, Greg and I went out of town, and we ate at a restaurant that was new to us. On the wall there was a neat welcome sign which I got permission to photograph since I collect photos of welcome signs, some of which I put at the beginning of my "The Art of Positive Living" blog posts.

After I'd taken a picture of following unique sign, I noticed a faint orb on the right side of the photo-

I wasn't surprised to see the orb since I had thought before we left on our trip that it would be nice if some of our loved ones in the spirit world would be with us on our trip.

According to the photo above, I believe that they were!

Weird, Scary Photo!

I don't often react to any paranormal photographs that Greg or I take, but on this post, I'm going to show you a photo that is, in my opinion, very weird, even scary!

Here's some background first, before I reveal the strange photograph-

Greg, some of Greg's family members, and I recently went to four cemeteries in East Tennessee to put flowers on some family graves.

A couple of people couldn't come and take part in our cemetery excursion, including Cris. Before our trip, she emailed Greg and me and encouraged us to see if we could get pictures of any orbs. I thought that was a good suggestion, that I really hadn't even thought about taking any paranormal photographs which seems strange since I have even written a book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," which is about the paranormal photographs that Greg, my brother, and I have taken in the past.

Most of the time, I don't purposely try to take any weird photos; they just happen when I least expect them to. However, mainly for Cris, Greg and I actually tried to capture some spirit images on camera, and we were successful, beyond our expectations!

We did get some ectoplasm and even orbs in a few of the photos, but one photograph was unlike anything we have ever seen! And, here it is!-

The only thing that I did to the above photo was that I added my watermark. It looks as though it's late in the day, but it was actually only about 3:00 PM! Notice the glow at the bottom of the photo. 

I wanted to see the photograph better so I lightened it-

Unbelievably, it looks as thought the nearest gravestone and a few others are outlined and glowing!

Still not satisfied, I lightened the photo even further, and here's what I got-

With a mostly cloudy sky, the above photo is how the photo should have looked at 3:00 PM to begin with. Notice that the gravestones still have that glow even in the lightened version.

I emailed the photos to Cris, and she said, "Wow! those are some really weird pictures....I knew you would find something." (Thanks, Cris for your great photo suggestion!)

The photos of the glowing markers were probably dark because of the paranormal activity. Entities can mess with your camera. Another photo that I took earlier was light and very blurred.

Also, a wonderful psychic that I consulted while writing my book said that anytime you saw something glowing that was not supposed to be glowing, it was a sign that there was paranormal activity.

Greg and I are going to be really brave, because in a week or so, we're going back to this same cemetery by ourselves, to see if we can capture anything else on camera. Also, I'm going to consult a psychic to get her ideas about this strange phenomenon.

A Ghostly Sighting, and More!

 Welcome!

I'll start my post today with a rather scary, true ghost story that one of my relatives recently emailed me about. Since she explained it so well, I'll quote her exact words. 

Here is her ghostly sighting: "One night about 3:00 am, (which is a primetime for ghost sightings-B. A.) I saw 2 ghosts looking down at me in bed. The first was a sandy haired man with blue eyes and a nice smile. I blinked my eyes and he was still there so I layed back down. I looked up again and there was a woman all in black with a black veil over her head. I looked up and asked, What do you want? She never answered and then disappeared. No one believes me saying what I saw was a dream-IT WAS NOT!"

Wow! This is a rare occurrence. Not many get to witness what she saw. She explained that this sighting might have had something to do with the fact that she's been having issues with one of her eyes that caused her to experience this paranormal event. 

I've never seen spirits myself. That's a good thing since I'd probably faint if something like this happened to me. How she remained as calm as she did is amazing to me. I told her that she must have nerves of steel.

In a few weeks I plan to consult a psychic about what my relative saw, and also I need to ask her about the following picture that I took while visiting a park: 

(I'm psychically gifted at taking spirit photos, but I don't know how to interpret what's in those photos, so for that I rely on other psychics. People with psychic abilities all have their areas of expertise.)

I took the above eerie-looking photo a few days ago at Hungry Mother Park near Marion, Virginia. As you can see, there is a large lavender-tinged orb at the bottom of the photo and perhaps ectoplasm and smaller orbs above. This could just be lens flare, or it might be an actual psychic photo.

In my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind,"* the psychic that I consulted for my photos in the book told me that spirits can come in on sunbeams. (Sadly, talented psychic Elaine Watson has since passed away.)

I'll let you know more about the two mysteries above in a future blog post after I consult a psychic that I often call now about such matters.

Have I got a haunted house for you! This month, it's double haunted!

The Nickerson Snead House in Glade Spring, Virginia is open as a Haunted Mansion for the Halloween season with many scary spine-tingling special effects. However, the scariest thing about this house is probably the fact that it really is haunted with several ghosts! No wonder!-It was used as a Civil War hospital, and the cellar was used as a morgue!

Spirits in the Snow and More!

I have several things to share with you this month, spirits (ectoplasm) in the snow and even more!

We've had quite a bit of snow this winter where we live. I was really excited when we had a pretty good snow of about three inches so I could take some pictures of our house in the snow. We're been here at our new location for only about a year and a half, and we got very little snow last year.

I took five pictures of our house in the snow, and all five had ectoplasm somewhere either on the house or in our yard! I never dreamed that would happen. I just wanted some pretty photos of our house in the winter. Guess I'll just have to settle for pretty photos of our house in the winter with ectoplasm!

Here's a close-up photograph of our house with several bunches of ectoplasm. Also, notice the ectoplasm down low on the trees and above the bush in the yard. 

There's probably even more ectoplasm in my photos, but it's hard to see it since it would be white against white.

More outdoor spirit activity-

This is a picture of our deck at night. I was trying to take a picture of the stray cat which has recently become our adopted outdoor cat. Taking pictures in the darkness is not the easiest thing to do, but this photo paid off as far as getting paranormal activity! The light in the background is from a pole lamp, but if you look closely, you can see the moving orbs near the light.

I'm nor concerned about these spirits in the snow or on the deck since they're outside, and they don't bother us. 

I consulted a psychic not long ago about spirits on our property, and she said that our house was not haunted, but there were spirits of Civil War soldiers that made an appearance from time to time, and they were not harmful. A Very Haunted House

Welcome!

Earlier this month, Greg and I visited the Lotz House in Franklin, Tennessee.  There are several reasons why we decided to visit this house when we did-

-First of all, it's full of history.  In fact, this year is the one hundred fiftieth anniversary of the Battle of Franklin, the bloodiest time of the Civil War, and this house was in the middle of it all.

-This was our first time visiting the house, and I wanted to see it when it is perhaps at its best, all dressed for Christmas, and it didn't disappoint.  The decorations were from that early time period, and cotton was even included in the floral arrangements.

-I wanted something really special and "Christmasey" for my before-Christmas blog post, and the Lotz house fit that bill perfectly.

Our one disappointment was that no picture-taking is allowed on the inside of the house, but we were allowed to take pictures on the outside.  However, it was almost dark when we took our photos, and we'd like to try it again some other time in the daylight.  (Although most suggest that you take spirit photos after dark, using the flash, it usually doesn't seem to matter for Greg and me.  We can usually do well almost anytime, with or without the flash.)  However, the pictures I took were so dark, I had to lighten them up a lot on an online web site, so the quality is not the best.

Thankfully, I did manage to capture a couple of things on my camera.  (We've yet to analyze Greg's photos.)

See if you can find an orb in this photo of the Lotz House.

Our tour guide and the person working in the gift shop were very helpful and knowledgeable, and they told us some interesting (as in scary!) things that they had personally witnessed there-strange sounds, ghostly sightings, and even a picture of the former owners suddenly flying off the wall!

This is a very haunted house, as "Travel Channel" featured the Lotz House on one of its shows a few years ago on "America's Most Terrifying."  In fact, the Lotz House is supposed to be the second most haunted house in America, according to our tour guide.  (He didn't know which one was first.  What do you think would be number one?  I guess different experts would have different opinions on that one.)

Paranormal or Not?

Sometimes things happen that seem strange, but it's not always clear if they are paranormal or not.

For instance, something in your house may not be sitting in the spot where it's usually sitting, so you wonder if someone else in the house moved it or was it moved by some paranormal means?

That happened at our house a few months ago.  One day, when I went into our guest room, I noticed that our love seat had moved about six inches to the right from where it had been sitting.  I asked Greg if he had moved it, and he said he had not.  I knew I hadn't moved it, but why was it not where it usually sits?  Then, it suddenly dawned on me-the night before, I was awakened by a loud noise which seemed to have come from across the hall where the guest room is!  (That night, I had quickly looked out into the hall and in the guest room, but saw nothing and went back to bed.)  Finally, I put two and two together and decided that apparently the love seat had been moved by paranormal means.  Now, that's scary (especially since I was having to spend the night by myself due to Greg's work schedule at that time), and paranormal!

Another strange incident happened with our television.  I was eagerly anticipating watching my favorite TV show.  I turned on the TV a few minutes early, and everything was fine.  However, when my show came on, there was absolutely no sound!  When the show went off, the sound went back on!  I couldn't believe it!  For two more weeks, the same thing happened.  I felt really paranoid about this, and in light of some of the stuff that had been going on here in the past, I blamed any mischievous spirits which might have been playing a cruel joke on me.  Finally, however, the next time that happened, I called our cable provider and the network, and I found out the same thing had been happening to others, and that it was just a technical glitch which they told me how to fix.

This is a scene from my favorite TV show, "Keeping Up Appearances."  (Although I'm really into the  paranormal and love shows such as "Ghost Hunters," "Finding Bigfoot," and "The Twilight Zone," I'm afraid Hyacinth Bucket and her hilarious antics wins first place from me.)

I am now a happy camper, but decided I'm just going to buy the complete series on DVD so I can watch it whenever I feel like it and not to be at the mercy of any more technical glitches.  (I hope!)

But, my point here is that I had jumped to the wrong conclusion, that this was a paranormal incident when it was not.

Thankfully, things do seem to be going better here at our house, now, except we did hear a strange noise few weeks ago.  Greg and I were nearly asleep in our bedroom, when we heard the very same weird, loud noise that I wrote about in my September 27, 2014 blog post, entitled "Living in a Haunted House."  I'm glad Greg finally got to hear it, but he was like me, he could not identify what the noise was because he had never heard anything like it before either!  In other words, it was what you might call an other-worldly sound!

Ghost Stories

Welcome!

A few days ago, I started thinking about the ghost stories I'd been told as a child.  A couple stand out in my mind.  Whether they are true or not, I don't know. Also, whether they are regional stories indigenous to my Appalachian Mountain region, I don't know.  None the less, they are still scary, especially to someone who is impressionable and sensitive.

The first story involves a teenage girl who, every year around the time of the local prom, could be seen standing on a street corner in town by herself, wearing an old-style prom dress.  Several people had seen her disappear into thin air!  That was the very street corner, 20 years earlier, that a girl in a prom dress was killed while riding back home from a prom.

The second story is about another girl who was dared to go into a graveyard after dark by herself.  As if this weren't bad enough, she had to take a fork and stab it into a grave and then leave.  Her "friends" who were waiting outside the cemetery, heard a terrifying scream.  They ran to see what had happened and found her lying there dead.  It looked as though she had tried to get away, but the fork she had plunged into the ground had caught her dress and had prevented her from doing so!

Finally, this last story, I know, for a fact, is true and it took place in the Appalachians.  My mother told me about her grandfather who used to deliver the mail on horseback.  One night, as he was making his rounds after dark, he felt someone jump on the back of his horse.  When he quickly turned to get rid of whoever it was, no one was there!  That was a very brave man if he kept making his rounds after that!
