"Seeing Fairies, Elementals"

 Welcome!

In last month's blog post on July 20, 2026, entitled "Seeing Spirits," I told about our indoor cat, Mitzi, seeing tiny fairies and elementals in our house that come around at night.

After I had published that post, my husband, Greg, said that he thought that when our outdoor cat, Kit-Cat, was looking out into the night (for an hour or two most nights!) from her little house (that Greg made for her)-

Kit-Cat

she might not be necessarily looking at another cat or a wild animal passing by, but it might be the same things that Mitzi sees inside our house at night, fairies and elementals! That sounds very plausible to me since our little nearby pond (which I mentioned last month in my blog post) attracts fairies and elementals which no doubt come out into the yard from the pond to play and to entertain Kit-Cat!

I just also know that in the past, Greg and I have looked ourselves to see if we could see what Kit-Cat sees, but we hardly ever have seen anything. If it were another animal, we would surely have seen one every once in a while, so it has to be something supernatural!

"Here is a strange."- ( As the great Paul Harvey used to say.)

Food for thought-

Greg's mother, our sister-in-law's mother, my mother, and my grandmother were all born under the zodiacal sign of Cancer. They are all moon children. The three mothers were born in July, and my grandmother was born in the latter part of June. (As an aside, our psychic volunteered the information that Greg's mother and my grandmother were together in the spirit world! That's funny because I'd always thought after Greg and I had met that they reminded me of each other!)

As this weren't enough, my first cousin, another first cousin's wife, and our nephew were all born on the same day in November (but not the same year).

Also, our same nephew (mentioned above) and his wife got married coincidentally on the same day as my mother's birthday.

Was all of this just a coincidence? A Divine plan? What do you think?

I researched this some, and AI thought it was all mathematical, but others said that it was about past lives, etc. You might want want to research this for yourselves. Very interesting!

Also, please check out my paranormal book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" which is on Amazon Kindle.

And, my new book, "Life in the Southern Appalachians, The Mountain Culture, Sayings, Traditions, People," a paperback, has finally been published, and it is now for sale on Amazon-

There is a paranormal chapter in the book entitled "Haunted Appalachia" that you might find interesting. In fact, if you are at all interested in Southern Appalachia, I believe that you'd enjoy this book.

"Seeing Spirits!"

 Welcome!

My blog post last month on June 21, 2026 was "Hearing Voices!," and this month, my post is entitled "Seeing Spirits!" And, the setting for both, is our house.

This post is entitled "Seeing Spirits" because one of our cats and I have seen spirits recently!

Greg has seen spirits or ghosts a couple of times in his life, but I had never seen one until a few weeks ago- Greg and I were in the kitchen when I noticed, out of the corner of my eye, what I thought was Mitzi, around Greg's legs, when he was standing near the dining room. Then, less than a minute later, I saw Mitzi (who's our only indoor cat) coming from a different direction! I asked Greg about Mitzi being near him a couple of minutes earlier, and he said that she had not been near him. So, I decided that I had apparently seen the spirit of our beloved Kallie!

Also, over two years ago, Greg said he saw Kallie in the kitchen shortly after she had passed away!

I haven't asked our psychic (whom I'll call Ariel) about this latest incident yet, but I don't believe I need to! Although that was the first spirit I had ever seen, it wasn't scary. It was actually comforting. I'm planning to order a book about spirit cats soon. I saw several books online that tell about the lives of cats after they pass away. (There are also books about spirit dogs, etc., as well.)

Ariel has said before that Mitzi sees Kallie pretty often when she comes around, which is a few times a week, to watch over us all-

Kallie

But, that's not all Mitzi sees!

The last time I talked with Ariel, I asked her what Mitzi was seeing at night, since she stares into space, down near the floor, first one way, and then another, as though she's watching something. Ariel, without missing a beat, told me that she sees tiny elementals and fairies that come around at night. They watch over her, and play with her!

Mitzi, Intensely Staring

I did some research on elementals and fairies since I knew very little about them, and I found out that fairies, especially, are attracted to beauty, like flowers, gazing globes, and water.

Here is a view, right outside our kitchen, of Greg's beautiful garden. (Many of the things were here when we bought our house, but Greg perfected it. He has a definite green thumb, which I do not possess!)-

It has, as you can see, flowers, a gazing globe, and water!-

And, even a fairy decoration!

Are these elements in our garden attracting fairies and elementals that even come into our house which is only a few feet away? Could be!

Fairies and elementals, etc. are hard for me to grasp as being real, since I always thought they were the stuff of fairy tales, but who knows? Why else would Mitzi be intensely watching something down low besides Kallie?

For more true stories about the paranormal, you might want to check out the widget above which leads you to my Kindle book on Amazon, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind."

Also, my new book about Appalachia, which will be published soon, has a chapter entitled "Haunted Appalachia."

"Hearing Voices!"

 Welcome!

And, welcome summer!

My brother, Nick, emailed us, and told us about the Druids conducting a summer solstice celebration at Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, today, the first day of summer. Thousands of people were there at dawn to watch the sun rise. Their ceremony is on YouTube if you'd like to check it out. It's very interesting!

I consulted our psychic a few weeks ago about noises that Greg heard during the night after he got up and went to the bathroom which is upstairs. He also heard a light switch and other noises downstairs, like someone moving, and a voice or two. The psychic said that there were two women who were sisters, and a man, who were all spirits, and that they didn't have any bad intentions. They weren't even aware of our house, etc. They weren't earthbound. Were they in a time warp?

(She said that Greg and I are spiritual, and that we attract stuff.)

This was a snapshot in time, from the 1950's. They were around 50-60 years old. They were unaware of Greg being in Virginia. They actually thought they were in the plains.

Also, she saw someone who had lived in our 1901 house-

She was wearing a long dress and had her hair in a bun.

My new book about Southern Appalachia is still in the process of being published. If you like Southern Appalachia, you should enjoy this book, especially since one chapter is entitled, "Haunted Appalachia." In addition to the paranormal things that I tell about in that chapter, I also have a list of other Southern  Appalachian authors that have written paranormal books.

In the meantime, you might enjoy my Kindle eBook, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" by Becky Arnott. For more information, please see the widget above.

"Message from the Spirit World"

Welcome!

This blog post will be shorter than usual since I'm working on my book about Appalachia which I need to give to the publisher soon.

I have something pretty interesting to share with you today, though. At least one strange thing seems to show up at least once a month for Greg or me, either in our photos, or something else paranormal will manifest.

This post is about something paranormal manifesting a few weeks ago.

Here's what happened-

As I was walking through our memorabilia room upstairs-

several of the objects which are in this photograph simply fell over on their own. I hadn't jarred the floor, and I hadn't even been close to the display table. I felt terrified, and I started to leave the room, but then I turned and said in a loud voice that I would not be intimidated, so I bravely and carefully put all of the fallen objects back into place, and then I quickly left the room.

Later, I wondered if it could be family members that were trying to communicate with me since this table held memorabilia from my side of the family. Also, I happened to remember something very similar happened in this same room that I wrote about in another "Spirit Photographs" blog post on Friday, December 27, 2024, entitled, "A Christmastime Paranormal Incident." If you haven't seen it, you might want to check it out.

I talked to a psychic about this latest incident, and she said that it was just Daddy saying "Hi!" from the spirit world. Also, he sent a big hug, and said that he was really happy for Greg and me, because our marriage is so good, and that he really likes Greg. Daddy's brother was with him. She described him as tall and thin, and that he was laughing at my reaction in the memorabilia room. She said that he was a cut-up. She said that they liked to hang out together.

I felt really good after her reading, to know the truth of what happened that day. I can understand why they were attracted to our memorabilia room with all of the things that are in there.

In the photo above, there's a photograph of Daddy when he was a boy, and also his plans for the backdrop for "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine" outdoor drama, along with other souvenirs, etc. from the drama.

Next month, I'll briefly tell about my new book about Appalachia. One of the chapters in my book is entitled "Haunted Appalachia."

In the meantime, you might want to check out my Kindle eBook, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind." For more information, please see the widget above.

A Weird Photograph!

 Welcome!

At the end of my last blog post, entitled "A Haunted Mansion, Revisited," which I published on March 28, 2026, I mentioned that there was a paranormal photograph the I would never put on my blog. I will tell you about that photograph in this blog post.

Most of the time, at least for me, spirits show up in my photographs when I least expect them, like a couple of weeks before we visited the haunted mansion in Wytheville, Virginia, Greg and I were in our car. Greg was driving, and I decided to take a picture through the car windshield of a pretty tree on a hill. I didn't have time to use the telephoto, so I took more of the area than I had planned. Also, my shot was right toward the bright sun, which I, of course, did not look at as I was taking the picture.

The reulting photo was that I did get a picture of the tree and part of the road. There was a bright streak of light coming from the sun which went down to the road. At the end of the streak was sort of an abstract human figure with two slots for eyes.

It was somewhat like Edvard Munch's painting, "The Scream," except that the face had no features, and there were no arms and legs.

We thought it was kind of scary. Neither Greg nor I liked what we saw, therefore, I just decided to delete the picture in my camera, as well as the one I put on the computer since it seemed evil to me, and I don't hsve anything to do with evil!

Greg and I called our psychic, and she gave her impression of the photograph that I described to her as I remembered it. At first, she said that it was a male in the photo, but then she also felt a female. She finally decided that there was a female standing behind the male. They were husband and wife..They were attached to the land, and they deeply cared about the tree, and they guarded it. We had felt weird and frightened when we saw the picture because of the stern attitude they had for the tree. They want to keep people from harming it. They are suspicious of people who come near it, so they act scary to keep people away from it.

Originally, I was attracted to the tree several weeks ago, when I decided to take a picture of it. I thought it would make a nice photograph, a graceful tree on a sloping hill. The psychic said there was a lot of love toward the tree from people that pass by it. It's a beautiful, very old tree that is well-protected by the spirits that also love it..

Most of the time, I still take pictures when we drive by that tree which is about once a week. I've gotten some ectoplasm in all of the pictures that I've taken there the past few weeks, but the most recent picture I took was a coulpe of days ago. I took it toward the sun, but again, I did not look at the sun, of course, just like when I took the other picture that I described earlier. This photograph was also weird, but in different, more elaborate ways.

Notice the large, colorful orbs and the ectoplasm! The beloved tree is the smaller one on the left.

However, I assume that the psychic would would say sometwhat the same thing about the above photo as she did about the one that I described for her. However, if she says anything different about this picture, I'll let you know in a future blog post.

It's a weird world! Please stay tuned!

"A Haunted Mansion, Revisited"

 Welcome!

I'm running a little late this month with my blog post since Greg and I just recently got to revisit a very haunted house, the Octagon Mansion, in Wytheville, Virginia. According to some people, it's supposed to be the scariest place in Virginia!

On May 21, 2022, I wrote another blog post about the mansion which was built in 1870. The post was entitled "Haunted! Tours." At that time it was a history museum, and they occasionally offered special paranormal tours. Greg and I just took pictures of the outside of the house when we went by. You might want to check out that post for yourself. One of the pictures in that post is paranormal!

As far as I know, no one lives in the mansion now. The last person who lived there witnessed a lot of paranormal activity, like doors closing on their own, and objects flying across the room. Also, sometimes he heard voices and even saw ghostly figures.

Apparently, the reason the mansion is so haunted is because that during the Civil War, there was an intense battle when 300 soldiers died, etc. in the area where the mansion is now located. Not only that, but there is a little girl who died during the polio epidemic in the 1950's that also haunts the mansion. As if that weren't enough, there are also spirits from the graveyard that is underneath the property!

Since we couldn't go into the mansion, we just took several pictures of the outside, just as we did in 2022, to see if we could get anything paranormal with our cameras.

After we got home, we looked carefully, but we didn't see anything strange with the photos I took. However, we noticed that there was ectoplasm in one of Greg's photos of the front porch-

This cropped-off picture shows the ectoplasm which is beneath, and to the left of this chair.

I wish we could have gone into the mansion when it was open, since I'm sure we could have gotten several paranormal photographs then. Perhaps one day it will reopen, and we'll be right there with our cameras ready to photograph the paranormal!

I consulted a psychic about this property, and she said that it was a ghost magnet, that spirits congregate there. Some are even from Colonial days. They see themselves in their own time period.

Next month, I'm going to tell about a paranormal photograph that I decided never to put on my blog!

"A Supernatural Sunset!"

 Welcome!

I'm running a little later this week since I had to wait until I could talk to an excellent psychic, named Holly, that I know. I finally got in touch with her today. I asked her about three different subjects which I mentioned in my last "Spirit Photographs" blog post last month. It was entitled- "A Paranormal Photograph, as Well as Some Questionable Events During the Past Few Weeks!" It was published on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

In that post I mentioned three unusual things that I was wondering about-

~One of the unusual things, was that someone drove into our driveway for a few minutes, and we had no idea why he was there. He left before Greg could go out and investigate. I had taken a picture of the front of his vehicle through our house window before he left, and I noticed in the picture that there was something like ectoplasm down near the bumper, or I thought it might even be there because of a smudge on the window.

Holly didn't think it was anything supernatural. She said that he was just lost, and that he pulled off of the road to look at a map or his phone. She didn't know what the "ectoplasm"-type of thing was in my picture.

~However, this was supernatural- a sunset in a picture that Greg had taken a few weeks ago-

When Greg showed me the photo, I couldn't believe it!-Not only was there a lot of color in the sky, but there was color on the ground, too! Also, look at the strange sun-like objects in the sky near the white clouds. I've never seen anything quite like this before!

When I asked Holly about Greg's photo, she said that this photo was a gift from God. She also said that Greg and I produce a lot of love, that we appreciate the area, and are close to nature.

Greg does love to be outside and work. He has a special way with plants. He even brought one plant inside, and has nurtured it through the past few cold months. It's supposed to be an outdoor plant (a tropical one!), but Greg has made it an indoor one until it's warm enough to take it back outside to plant in the ground.

I really enjoy taking pictures of nature, the beautiful area where we live, with its four seasons.

In last month's blog post, I also mentioned a haunted mansion. We decided we'd check it out next month.

Please stay tuned!

"A Paranormal Photograph, as Well as Some Questionable Events During the Past Few Weeks!"

 Welcome!

I have a definite paranormal (a spirit) photograph to show you today, along with some unexplained events that have happened during the past few weeks.

When I wrote last month's blog post, "A Paranormal Book on Kindle" on Sunday, December 21, 2025, nothing supernatural had happened the four weeks prior to my writing that post.

However, the weeks between last month's post and today's post, there were several strange or unusual things that occurred.

First, here is the definite paranormal photograph that I took during a snowstorm that we had not long ago-

Do you see the paranormal part in the above photograph?

Here is the close-up of the above photo-

Do you see it? At first you might think it's just snow, but look at how it nearly obscures part of the wire fence. I feel really confident that it is paranormal since the talented psychic I consulted about this barn area said that it was very haunted because of a secret here that very few know about.

I tell more about this in my upcoming book on Appalachia since I have one chapter entitled "Haunted Appalachia." In that chapter, I have another paranormal photograph of this same area that involves animals.

Greg and I experienced a couple of strange things recently-

~Greg took pictures of a sunset, and they didn't turn out quite the way we expected they would!

~One afternoon, an older man (or a woman) in a black SUV pulled into our driveway for a few minutes, and then quickly left after I took a picture of the vehicle. The picture I took might have been paranormal.

Also, there is a nearby haunted mansion that I hope to investigate soon.

Please stay tuned for next month's blog post, as well as for other posts, for more information about the mysterious events above, etc. I should know a lot more after I consult our psychic!

"A Paranormal Book on Kindle"

 Welcome!

Here is an idea for a last-minute, inexpensive Christmas gift to give to someone, or you could even give it to yourself- a paranormal book on Amazon Kindle! It's for those who enjoy real-life paranormal stories, and photographs!

The name of this e-book is "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" by Becky Arnott. The subtitle is "Ordinary People, Extraordinary Encounters."

It features paranormal stories and photographs that I, my husband, Greg, and my brother, Nick, have taken throughout the years. There are over 100 paranormal photographs in this book!

Here is a photograph that I took that is not in the book, but it is similar to a few of those featured in the book-

This is a picture of a paranormal grid that showed up in a mirror at Greg's father's house. In the chapter of the book, entitled "Greg's Boyhood Home," I have several photographs that show different grids in other rooms, along with the stories that accompany them.

Once, while visiting his father, Greg even saw the glowing spirit of his mother at the bottom of the stairs out of the corner of his eye, and then he heard a swishing sound as she passed by the upstairs room he had just entered.

Just a little unnerving, to say the least! Greg has seen spirits a couple of times, but thankfully, I never have! I take photos of spirits, but I never see them before I photograph them. I really love to take pictures, and sometimes strange things just show up in them.

Here are a few more titles of the chapters in this book-

~"Unusual Ectoplasm"
~"Moving Orbs"
~"Netherland Inn Road"
~"Spirit Encounters Abroad"
~"Ghost Stories of Others"
And many more!

Here are some comments from readers about my paranormal book-

~"...We would recommend this to even a casual reader of spirit and ghost stories and also to the more advanced readers of the afterlife." -Adam & Amber Mabry, "Natural Genesis"

~"Awesome!" -Elaine Watson, Professional Psychic

~"...Arnott clearly has a gift for capturing the spirit world on film. With distinctive ectoplasmic shapes, patterns in mirrors, and ghostly reflections in window panes, readers, even skeptical ones, will be left with no doubt that there is a sharp connection between physical and spiritual realms." -Karen Darlington Aldridge, Director, Living Writers Collective, Multi-published freelance writer & copyeditor

For more information about this Amazon Kindle book, please see the widget above. A few paperback versions are available in shops in Southwest Virginia and in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

"A Large Cross with Ectoplasm!"

 Welcome!

A few months ago, Greg and I were on a local shopping trip, and we drove by a church with a nearby large white cross. I took a picture of the cross. I've taken a picture of that cross several times before, since I'm trying to get a really good one for a book that I'm writing.

When I got home, I put the picture with the cross on our computer, to study it. It didn't take me long to notice the unmistakable ectoplasm on the left side of the cross-

It was a rather cloudy day, but that is not a cloud on the arm of the cross. It is ectoplasm, but it is not white or black ectoplasm. I would call it gray ectoplasm since it's a combination of  black and white.

Ectoplasm is the essence of a spirit, and the shades of black, gray, and white have different meanings for the different types of spirits. Generally, black means negative, evil, and powerful. White is positive, spiritual.

Gray, like the gray ectoplasm in the photo, might mean sadness or low energy.

Even after all of the years of my taking paranormal photographs, I'm still surprised when something paranormal shows up in the pictures I've taken, because I never see anything paranormal before I take the pictures. I very rarely take pictures just to try to capture something paranormal.

The same is true for my husband, Greg, and my brother, Nick, in the photographs that they take, since they both have the gift of spirit photography, the same as I do. It's really no surprise about my brother, since we are related, but I believe Greg also has the same talent that I do since several psychics have told me that we are soulmates.

Be sure and check out my book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," which is on Amazon Kindle, for the paranormal photographs that Nick, Greg, and I have taken throughout the years. There are over 100 of them in this Kindle book!

So, finally, I believe that the ectoplasm in the photograph above means that the ghostly entity is sad or needs help, and is looking for the spiritual, the cross, to save it.

I have a gift for taking spirit photographs, but I can only guess what the spirits in the photographs mean. I leave that that to the professional psychics. The next time I call one, I'll ask her about this photograph, as well as a few others.

What do you think the ectoplasm in this photograph means?

Wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving!

"An Old Haunted House!"

 Welcome!

I honestly didn't think I had any paranormal photographs to share with you for this month on this blog until I found a photograph in my paranormal picture folder that I had never before used.

And here it is-

This is not a very good photograph. That is probably why I never used it. I barely remember taking it, but I can understand why I kept it-because it is paranormal.

Here's the background for this photograph-

I always carry my small camera in my pocketbook, so when we are out, and I see something interesting, I can take a picture. I don't know exactly why I took the picture to begin with, except that I really like old houses. We are usually in a hurry when we go out, so I apparently took the picture from the car window while Greg was driving slowly. Neither Greg nor I can remember much about it, and we have no idea where this house is located.

However, I am glad I took the picture, even though it is not good photographically. You can't tell much about it in the above photograph, so in order to show the paranormal part, I had to edit it which is something I really don't like to do when it comes to paranormal photos.

Here it is after I cropped it and lightened it quiet a bit so that the ectoplasm would show up better-

There's lots of ectoplasm on the house-on the roof, the chimney, near the flag, on the front and side of the house, and there is even ectoplasm almost surrounding the nearby tree.

It reminds me so much of our house in Kingsport, Tennessee where we used to live, not the way it looks, but the fact that this house is apparently very haunted, just like ours was. I tell about it in my paranormal book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," which is on Amazon Kindle. So many old houses are haunted.

I'm happy that I decided to use this picture, now, so that I could share it with you.

Happy Halloween!

The Halloween picture above looks paranormal, but it's not. I took this picture quickly while we were in our car, through our dirty windshield, which gives it a paranormal look.

"Totally Unexpected Paranormal Photographs!"

 Welcome!

After so many years of taking paranormal photographs, it looks like that I would suspect that occasionally, sometimes the picture I'm taking might be paranormal, but very rarely do I try to take a picture to see if I can get something paranormal.

Just a few days ago, Greg and I were out shopping, and as we were leaving the parking lot, I looked out the car window, and I noticed beautiful goldenrod blooming in a nearby field. I felt compelled to take a picture of it, especially since I'm writing about our Southern Appalachian Mountain area, and I'm including a lot of pictures that are appropriate for my book. I thought that a goldenrod picture would be a great addition to it.

Greg parked out of the way of the traffic, and I got out of the car, and started taking pictures. I took several pictures, and I was satisfied that they were fine, but when we got home. and I saw them on the computer, I couldn't believe it. My pictures of the beautiful goldenrod were ruined!-

In the above photograph, the flowers and the green foliage in the background were not at all clear, and the photograph below was even worse-

It was very blurred! It looks as though I moved the camera, which I did not. Besides, at the bottom of both pictures, especially the last one, there is unmistakable ectoplasm!

Therefore, I had to conclude that these pictures were paranormal! My other two pictures of  the goldenrod were very similar to these two.

I reminded myself of previous pictures that I had taken that are a lot like the pictures above..

For example, I remembered the blog post I published on Saturday, May 15, 2021, which was entitled, "The (Haunted) Tavern," in which I described how haunted The Tavern in Abingdon, Virginia was. One of the interior shots that I took there was very blurred!

Another good example of blurring is a Saturday, May 16, 2020 "Spirit Photographs" blog post entitled, "A Haunted Cabin."

The pictures I took a few days ago were totally unexpected paranormal photographs, as most of my paranormal ones are.

I'm actually glad that my photos turned out the way they did, now, because good has come of the whole experience because-

-After I discovered that the photographs were paranormal, I decided that I would put them in this "Spirit Photographs" blog post since I happened to remember that I had nothing else for this post today.
-Also, I decided to research goldenrod. I discovered that it has some good qualities, of which, no doubt, most people are unaware. Goldenrod symbolizes good luck and prosperity. It's also supposed to be healing, positive, and encouraging. No wonder I was attracted to it! It's apparently a good omen!

Since I don't know exactly why some of my photographs are paranormal, I can only guess why they are. Usually, areas that are paranormal are the result of a person or an animal that has died there, especially if a lot of trauma was involved. The energy of the spirit remains in that area.

The next time that I contact my psychic, I'll ask her about it. Often, she can help the spirit move on to the light.

For more true, intriguing paranormal photographs (Over 100 of them!), please check out my Kindle book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," by Becky Arnott. For more information, just click the widget above.

"A Haunted Carriage Ride!"

 Welcome!

A couple of weeks ago, Greg and I were traveling through Abingdon, Virginia late in the afternoon during the Virginia Highlands Festival, when Greg suddenly drew my attention to the horse-drawn carriage coming down the street. We were both surprised to see it since we didn't know that there were carriage rides in Abingdon.

I found out later that the Martha Washington Inn offers carriage rides for special events, like the Highlands Festival, as well as rides, regularly, certain days of the week.

I quickly pulled my camera out of my pocketbook and snapped a picture because I thought it would be great to put in my new book about the Southern Appalachian Mountains.

After I got home, I looked through the pictures that I had taken during that day. I was surprised, but not shocked, when I discovered that the picture that I had taken of the horse-drawn carriage had obvious ectoplasm in it!

A Carriage Ride Through Abingdon

I suppose you could say that those on the carriage went on a haunted carriage ride!, whether they realized it or not.

Here's a closeup of the ectoplasm in this photograph-

Notice the ectoplasm above, that goes all the way across the photograph in almost a straight line, from the brick building on the left, to the edge of the photograph on the right. There are large and small breaks in the ectoplasm, however. There is also ectoplasm on the carriage, and on the woman on the right side of the picture.

What is causing this ectoplasm? It could be that spirits are attracted to the carriage that brings back memories of earlier times.

This is not the only time that ectoplasm has shown up in my pictures of Abingdon. I believe that this beautiful, historic town is very haunted!

For more genuine spirit photographs that my husband, brother, and I have taken, you might want to check out my paranormal Kindle book, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind." For more information, just click on the widget above.

"Paranormal Photographs"

 Welcome!

This blog post is about the paranormal photographs that I have taken that are included in the paranormal chapter of a book that I am writing about Appalachia that I plan to finish in a few weeks.

Here is an excerpt of that paranormal chapter that is entitled, "Haunted Appalachia."-

~ "The Appalachians are probably one of the darkest places on the planet." -Mark Muncy

"I know for a fact that Appalachia is haunted. I have lived in Appalachia most of my life, and I have experienced the paranormal myself since early childhood."

Here is a paranormal photograph from that same chapter that shows Greg in our study-

To begin with, I took this picture because almost every day I take pictures when we are at home, and when we go out, since taking pictures is one of my favorite hobbies. When I saw Greg sitting in the study with the great lighting from the lamp, I grabbed my camera and snapped this photo.

Little did I know that it would turn out to be paranormal, as some of my photographs often are.

Do you see anything paranormal about this picture? I explain my idea about it in my new book.

Also, I have several other photographs in that chapter that I show and explain. One of those involves a paranormal picture that I took of sheep on a hill near our house, and I figured out why it was paranormal after a neighbor told us a hidden secret about that hill!

Also, in the paranormal chapter of my new book, I mention some intriguing ghostly books by regional authors in Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee.

In addition, there is my current paranormal book on Amazon Kindle, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind" by Becky Arnott that has genuine paranormal photographs that I, my husband, Greg, and my brother, Nick have taken throughout the years. There are over 100 paranormal photographs in the book.

I'll keep you informed about my new book about Appalachia (with the special paranormal chapter) in future blog posts.

"An Unexpected Spirit Photograph, and a Trash Dump Update"

 Welcome!

At first, I didn't think that I had a photograph to show in this blog post for this month, but after I carefully looked through my photos on my camera, I notice this one that I took just a few days ago-

View of the Mountains and Field Near Where We Live

I'm fascinated with this view, and I'm planning to include a picture of it in my new book about Southern Appalachia, so I've taken several pictures of it, to try to get the perfect photo. When I took this picture, Greg and I were in the car, and Greg, of course, was driving, slowly, but I still had to quickly snap the camera.

It didn't turn out that well for what I had in mind for the book, but, it was an unexpected spirit photograph that I can use in this blog post! Notice the ectoplasm on, and to the left of the bush in the lower middle part of the photograph. There were no smudges on the windshield, so it couldn't have been from that. The only changes I made to the photograph were that I lightened it some, and I added the watermark.

I can only guess what caused the ectoplasm in this photograph. Although I do have a talent for taking spirit photographs, as I've said before, I have no idea how to interpret them. Since this ectoplasm is near the road, we could speculate that it perhaps has something to do with a death due to an accident. Also, since this is a farm that has cows, it could also have something to do with some of them passing away.

Also, I have a trash dump update-

A couple of weeks ago, we went to the dump to take our trash, and I took several pictures. Here is one of them-

A pretty view from the dump, but there's nothing paranormal in this one, or in any of the photos that I took that day!

In last month's blog post, "The Reason Why the Dump Is So Haunted," which was published on May 19, 2025, the psychic named Crystal worked on making it not-haunted. Looks like it may have worked! Time will tell.

"The Reason Why the Dump Is So Haunted!"

 Welcome!

In my 2/16/25 blog post, entitled "Two New Spirit Photographs," the second photograph in that post that I feature, shows a cat that lives at a dump. Most of the picture looks washed out, and there is definite ectoplasm to the right of the cat.

Here are two more pictures of the dump, and they also have ectoplasm!-

The first one (above) shows a man adding sticks, onto a large pile of tree limbs, etc. that's already there. Up above where the man is, you can see bits of ectoplasm on the pile.

The second photograph shows the same cat that was in the 2/16/25 blog post. In this photograph, you can easily see the ectoplasm to the left of the cat.

I mentioned in last month's post that I consulted an excellent psychic, that I call Crystal, about some of my spirit photographs that I needed to have interpreted.

I asked Crystal, why this dump was so haunted, and she said, without pausing, that a body had been placed in the dump in the 1930's or the 1940's! The spirit of the mother was looking for the body of her daughter. Crystal sent the spirit of the daughter to the spirit world so that the mother and daughter could be united.

"Spirit Photographs, Interpreted by a Psychic"

 Welcome!

I'm so happy to say that I'm finally getting to write and publish this month's "Spirit Photographs" blog post! I've been waiting to talk with a talented psychic who is really good at interpreting paranormal photographs. She finally got back to me today, so now I can let you know about the ectoplasm in some of my most recent photographs.

This will be a mini blog post this month, and also in May, since I need to spend most of my time writing my new book which should be published in June. As I mentioned last month, my book is about the area in which I live. Included in the book is a paranormal chapter which seems keep getting larger every few days because new paranormal things keep showing up in my photographs!

Here is my latest photograph of the rustic old shed that I often photograph-

This photo, which I cropped off so that you could see the ectoplasm better, has ectoplasm in several different areas, but mostly in the bushes and the trees.

The psychic (whom I'll call Crystal) didn't have to see the photo to tell me about it. She said that an old-timer was attached to the shack, and that other plain and simple people who are in spirit also hung out around there. The old man had had a hard life. His wife had died. She had loved him, and he wished that he had been more loving. He was hanging out there, in that area, since that was where he was happiest, but he missed his wife. Crystal was trying to get him to go to where his wife was, but she was having a difficult time convincing him since he believed that he could not go where his wife was. She said that she would keep working with him, however.

I previously featured this shack in my January 18, 2025 blog post entitled "More Ectoplasm!," and also in my February 16, 2025 post entitled "Two New Spirit Photographs."

Another photograph I asked Crystal about was the one I wrote about last month, on March 16, 2025, entitled "Unexpected Spirit Guests!" Crystal said that in that birthday photo, the spirits in the form of orbs and ectoplasm were my mother, grandmother, female family, and a great? grandfather.

Crystal told me about another spirit photograph which I'll tell you about next month, along with anything else that might show up in the meantime.

"Unexpected Spirit Guests!"

 Welcome!

A few weeks ago, several of us celebrated my birthday at our house, and we had a wonderful time. All of our positive energy seems to have attracted more guests than we had expected.

My brother Nick took this picture (below) of Greg and me after Greg had brought in my birthday cupcakes.

This photo shows that we had some unexpected spirit guests! The more, the merrier!

I'm not totally surprised by the orbs and ectoplasm behind me, on the wall, and even in the chair beside me! I can't wait to talk to my psychic so that she can let me know who these spirits are, but I think I have a good idea! I need to talk with her anyway about the photos in the last few blog posts that I've written, and also about some other photos I've taken in just the last few days, one of which is very unusual, totally unexpected!

I'm currently writing a new book about our area which should be published in the next couple of months, and one of the chapters will just pertain to the paranormal aspects of our area

I'll let you know more about my new book later.

My brother, taking this paranormal picture, is no surprise to me since he took his first paranormal picture when he was just a schoolboy. The picture he took was of the outside of famous June Tolliver House in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. When we got the pictures back, we noticed that there was a strange figure in the window.

If you'd like to know more about this photograph, the haunted June Tolliver House, etc., you might want to check out some interesting videos on YouTube. A few months ago, a team of ghost hunters, the Eastern Ky. Ghost Squad, went to the Tolliver House, and did a paranormal investigation.

To see these, go to YouTube and type in "June Tolliver House Ghost." Then scroll down to "Tour and History of the June Tolliver House: Pre-Investigation." This video is really good to set the stage for the other videos that are of the actual investigation. Toward the first of this video, there is a newspaper article from our local "Bristol Herald Courier" that shows a picture of the June Tolliver House with the ghost in the window. I wrote that article about my brother taking the ghost picture.

Later in the video, the tour guide mentions that I wrote a book about the paranormal, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," which they have for sale in the Tolliver House gift shop. (To buy the Kindle version of my book, it's for sale on Amazon. If you are interested, just click on the widget above.)

The other two videos of the investigation itself are "Paranormal Investigation Pt. 1" and "Paranormal Investigation Pt. 2. Final."

My book has over 100 paranormal photographs that my brother Nick, my husband Greg, and I have taken throughout the years, mostly in our Southern Appalachian area. Nick and I seemed to have inherited our our ability to take paranormal photographs mostly from our father, and, of course, Greg and I are only related by marriage, but he has the same gift, as well. It must be because we are soulmates! (And, we think at least one of his parents has this same ability.)

"Two New Spirit Photographs"

 Welcome!

I've got two new spirit photographs to show you. One is similar to those I've shown a couple of times before.

It's a picture of an old rustic shed that I photograph nearly every time we go by there. I'm fascinated by the shed because ectoplasm shows up in almost all of the pictures I take of it.

Last week was no exception. I take a picture through our car windshield because there is no place to stop on that road, especially not on the big curve that is near the shed

Here is my latest shed photograph-

When I first saw this photo in my camera, I wondered if there was anything paranormal about it. However, I knew that I would have to put it on our home computer before I could tell anything about it. I had to enlarge it, and when I did, I saw quite a bit of ectoplasm near a pole on the property.

Here is a much closer view which shows the obvious ectoplasm-

The ectoplasm shows up well against the dark background.

For a comparison of the different paranormal photographs I have taken of the old shed, you might want to check out two of my previous blog posts, one of which I published on Sunday, August 18, 2024 entitled "Paranormal Book," and the other one was "More Ectoplasm!," published on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

If you do compare them, you'll notice that the ectoplasm is never the same in any of  the photographs.

We drive by there every week when we take our trash to the dump which is about half a mile from the shed.

At the dump, I sometimes take pictures of the beautiful scenery since there is a really nice view from there.

Last week, however, I saw a cat there, and since I love animals, especially cats, and since this one reminded me of a cat that we used to have, I decided to take its picture-

Since I had to hurriedly take the picture, it didn't turn out very well, but upon closer examination of the photo, it was obviously paranormal. This was totally unexpected!

I usually don't take a picture of something to see if it will turn out to be paranormal (except for something special like the old shed), so I'm usually very surprised when I see something like this cat-at-the-dump photo.

Besides the obvious ectoplasm at the bottom of the trash bin on the right, the whole picture looks washed out! (Compare this photo to the photo of the shed which I had taken only five to ten minutes earlier.)

I really don't know what to think about the ectoplasm near the rustic shed, or at the dump, but I do know who to ask, a really good psychic that I often consult about puzzling things such as these.

What do you think about the ectoplasm in these spirit photographs?

Please check back with me next month when I should have some intriguing answers for you!

"More Ectoplasm!"

 Welcome!

I hope your new year is going great!

I've been so busy with projects for the past few weeks, that even though I've taken a lot of pictures, I'm not getting many paranormal ones. Also, I've been having some sinus problems, but thankfully, I'm better than I was. My point is, that in order to take paranormal photographs, I believe you need to be in good shape, both physically and mentally, just like you really need to be in good shape to accomplish most things in life.

I'm seriously working on resting more and taking better care of myself as my most important new year's resolution.

We'll see how that goes. Who knows? I might just have enough paranormal photographs soon to add to a new paranormal book that I could write in the near future!

Anyway, I do have one photograph to share with you that I took a few weeks ago-

If this photo looks familiar, it may be because I featured this very shed in my August 18, 2024 blog post entitled, "Paranormal Book."

This old building fascinates me because it's so picturesque. It's on a country road in a rural area in Southwest Virginia. We often travel that road, and most of the time, as we drive by, I try to take a picture of it for an upcoming book that I'm writing about our Southern Appalachian area. I'll feature the best picture that I take of it in the book.

The reason that I'm featuring it in this blog post, is that, as you might guess, there is something paranormal about it just as there was in the photograph that I featured of it in the August blog post. Do you see what it is?

Here's a close-up of the photo-

There is ectoplasm to the left of this building, in the foreground, and also, on the fence railing above.

Yes, there is more ectoplasm, again generally in the same area as it was in the August photo.

When Greg looked at this picture, he wondered if that was a tombstone in the background. If so, that might help explain the ectoplasm!

Please stay tuned as we do further research!

If you haven't seen my paranormal Kindle book on Amazon, "Photographic Encounters of the Spirit Kind," you might want to check it out by clicking the widget above.
